Airbag lights on after Thieves stole my stereo

Hey guys, so my truck got broken into on Friday. Pretty depressing. They got my $1,300 stereo, iPod touch, 3 pairs of sunglasses, and a few other things from inside the truck. Assholes.

Anyways, my airbag lights are illuminated on the dash now, and I can't get the airbag light to turn off. I checked some of the wiring, although wires are everywhere because they ripped a pretty big stereo out. The Pioneer AVIC-NEX7100 with DVD, steering wheel controls, maps, navigation, 8-inch screen, etc. Basically, a ton of wires were attached, and they probably yanked it pretty hard.

The trim and clock (with airbag indicator) sit under the stereo on my 2011 Tacoma. That was broken and just dangling in the dash. I checked those wires too, and they seem good. Obviously, something is broken somewhere. Not sure why else my airbag light would be on.

Does anyone have any experience with airbag lights? I saw a few threads where it came on during stereo installs, so that could be part of this. I'm hoping it's nothing major. State Farm says they want to replace the stereo first and see if the light turns off. I call BS, because I don't want to drive a truck that has airbags that MIGHT NOT WORK. Ya know. haha.

    Thoughts?

It’s probably cause they fucked your clock panel up. That panel also displays airbag info so I’m sure it is related to that. Check the wiring, I’m guessing a pin came out or a wire is cut or yanked.

the stereo doesn’t have anything to do with the airbags.

Yes... Stereo has nothing to do with airbags. I tried to tell the stupid people on the phone that. I've installed so many stereo's.... sigh.

So, I've completely unplugged the clock panel 3-4 times and the light stayed on. However, today I plugged it all back in, put the dash-kit and clock back in place (so the hole in my dash is smaller) and sat personally in the passenger seat, and clicked in my seatbelt.

Once I did that, the airbag light switched to ON by the clock, and the light went off on my dash. Now, it's off and I haven't seen it since. So maybe something was just confused there for a moment, idk. But it seems ok now.

Hes saying that once he put weight on the passenger seat it switched the indicator to airbag on and turned off the airbag light on the cluster.

And the lights still off so problem solved

I may need to find a code reader to narrow down the source

No it was the light on my Tach... That's why I was concerned.

Get the codes pulled. If the light is on, there is a code stored in the computer.
