That's cool and all, but wouldn't it be kind of dangerous to have to swing out of the cab and onto the rear deck just to blow your horn? Be a bit of a PIA in emergencies....

Good, glad you couldn’t get it working, because scenarios 1 is absolutely NOT how you wire a relay. It completely defeats the purpose of using a relay since you’ve got the full load running through the switch, your better off not even using a relay at all than using scenario 1.

Absolutely, really?:jerkoff: You're talking out your ass. It's not a ch4x4 switch or any wimpy 3 amp switch that everyone likes because it matches the rest of the truck or a Carling switch that's meant to handle 20 amps and you use it to switch a relay coil that only need .1 A to function.
Tell it to the Toyota Engineers that they are "doing it Absolutely wrong"...

That circuit is wired differently from the one I quoted. The above is the correct way to wire a relay. (There will be some form of switch either mechanical or electrical connected to the Black wire #2), and as such notice separate powers running to relay coil and relay switch. One I quoted is completely incorrect. There is no need to use a relay at all in the post I quoted, it’s not doing anything.

My prediction - you'll be so distracted policing your fellow drivers, hoping for the chance to toot your goddamn horn that YOU will be the dangerous driver in your scenario.
But you're correct, it's your name on the paperwork.

Bonus prediction - an inevitable "why doesn't my ______________ work anymore?" thread.

Like I said before : my truck, I’ll put what I want on it, if I wanna a damn siren on it I’ll fucking do it. I didn’t make this thread to ask what you thought , I made it to ask the correct hookup.

What you have is a footswitch used in A/c applications, But it will still work. Footswitch wiring will look similar to the picture and the green wire will not be used.

White and black wires are what you'll be using, Connect either one to a good ground on your truck and the other to 85 of the relay.
86 of the relay will go to switched 12v power "Only on when the key is on" I would suggest wiring it this way. Relays can fail and you don't want the horn to stay on constantly when it does.
87 of the relay will go to 12v battery "Always on and fused"
30 of the relay will go to one of the pins on the horn
The other pin of the horn goes to Ground.

Let me know how it works

Great, and when you cause a wreck, we don't want to hear your bitching and moaning about it.
Installing a pedal so you can blow your fag-horn. Christ, just when I thought this forum couldn't get more stupid, somebody comes along and proves me wrong.
But TOOT you keep being TOOT you.
