Against most of the popular choices I went with desert armor beast compressor and a quad hose. Filled up my buddy and i’s 33’s back to back and it handled it fine. It’s a little large but if you take off the dust tray on the bottom, it fits behind the back seat in the cubby. I think they just came out with an onboard mount too if you plan on doing so down the line. Was going to go arb twin but saved a couple hundred this way and it fits my needs really well.

I started with one of those cheap cigarette lighter compressor from Lowe's and started to worry about failing based on how hot it got airing up one stock tire by 10 ~ 15 lbs. Got a single stage ARB. Didn't like how expensive it was going to be after buying a mount and all the accessories. Got a VIAIR 400P after changing to 265/75/16. Yes, they get hot after airing up, but I have been just throwing them back in the bag unzipped and then in the bed. Based on VIAIR's duty cycle, I'm personally not worried.

I'm sure a dual ARB compressor can air up faster than a VIAIR 400p, but I couldn't justify spending twice as much for an ARB to shave off few minutes. I spend that extra time it takes to air up to stretch my legs and talk to my wife about our trip.

Just a makita lxt air compressor for now. Works fine and is portable enough that I can take it away from the car for other items. Love the digital gauge/auto shutoff as well. Fashioned up a small trigger lock and it works awesome.

Same for me but my portable is a Makita, because I already had other Makita tools with the same battery system and rapid charger. I keep it behind the back seat in a rigid case and check the battery every couple of months if it's not used.

My Buddy and I each got one of these from Napa and love them.
I have mine set up with a DIY 4 tire simultaneous inflation/deflation. Running 315/75-16's. Was done inflating one tire ahead of the other three guys using smaller inflators with OEM tires ... and I was bleeding off air the entire time because the auto-shutoff overpressure switch I wired in kept tripping from the air pulses... Totally my oversight.

I've since remedied that, no overpressure safety built in other than me actually paying attention to whether everything is hooked up and open prior to turning on comp. lol

This one also gets my vote. They have been labeled as other brands as well and been sold for $200+.

    I'm also on a 4-way inflator/deflator and had 4 33s go from 18# to 33# in roughly 4 mins.

Prompted by this thread I pulled out my Viair 300P to see if I wanted to clean it up and sell it or hold onto it as I just switched to a vehicle with larger tires. Found this. Only $15 said and done to replace from ScAmazon but you can tell it is a pretty poorly cast part. Also see the 300P's going for over $200 now when I think I paid $125 for mine.

    None.
Seat Jacker has a kit that will permit installing an air compressor under the front seat.

Another interesting finding as I delve down this rabbit hole is the duty cycle, or rather how long the pump can run before it needs to cool down. Dewalt is about 10 minutes, Ryobi 5, but the Viairs are more like 20 depending on the model. When I would air down to about 16PSI and then was try to get four 265 tires back up to 38PSI, it surely took at least ten minutes of consistent run time on the pump. Having to break that up to cool down the unit or not burn in out seems like an unnecessary compromise.

I just got DEWAlt because I have plenty batteries but it all depends on usage. I’ve used Ryobi too and for the price is not bad but I didn’t like that it did not have an option to plug its battery only. DEWAlt is battery and 12v. Never looked at viair. I use it for the inflatable bed and for the kids pool in the summer too.
