I can't tell what truck you are driving. How about a little more info.

Assuming you are driving a 2nd gen, your culprit is going to be your spiral cable (cable inside the steering wheel).

Known defect. I believe they issued a recall for this, check with your dealer - you may be able to get it fixed free of charge.

Maybe a stupid question and I'm honestly not trying to troll you OP but could it be the passenger airbag light that will come on when no one is in the pass seat or the pass doesn't weigh enough to make the airbag work? Forgive me if you've owned this truck for a while and things are just now coming up that you have questions with.

Like others have said, check connections, especially under the seats, before you do anything drastic. I used to jam stuff (gloves etc) under the seat and this has happened.

That's because the SRS codes are mfr-specific and not part of the basic OBD2 protocol. The more expensive pro scanners from Snap-On, OTC, Autel, etc. can read them. Or you can get a mini-VCI cable with a bootleg version of Toyota Techstream to read the codes, something like this: https://www.amazon.com/AUTOS-FAMILY-Techstream-V10-30-029-Diagnostic-Software/dp/B00OOP72U8/

Seriously? I ask for a bit of back ground on the vehicle and I get "base model"?!

What year? How long has the light been on? Does it stay on or does it go off once and awhile? Any previous accidents. Work with us a bit please.

I'm not seeing where you are putting a lot of effort into solving your problem, so I'm having a hard time putting much effort on my end.

You got 2800 post. I think you know how forums work.

If you want a direction to go, look up some of my previous post involving air bag issues.

Apologies. I didn't see where this was posted to the 2nd gen section. Not easy to pic that up on a phone.

Anyone know what type of scanner they use at Autozone, Pep Boys, etc. for reading codes? Maybe they can read the SRS code and help @pinktaco808 narrow down the culprit.
You know what's worse than an airbag that doesn't work? One that deploys when it isn't supposed to.

Now we are getting somewhere. Thank you .

You want to know where the connectors are that you need to check. There are weight sensors under the seats. These are the most common connectors to get loose. Check those. You have sensors and connectors on the frame. These are the second most common offenders. There have been reports of the crash sensors on the frame getting corrosion and failing as well.

All the wiring for the SRS (supplemental restraint system) is covered with a very bright yellow covering. Its the only place this color is used in all vehicles. You can easily follow these wires down and check all the connections.

The nice thing about the SRS is that when you fix the problem, the light turns off. You don't need a code reader to clear the light. It turns off on its own.

The SRS is a very robust system. You won't be accidentally causing the bags to deploy by checking these connectors.

When you first start the truck, the SRS ECU does a check of the system. Its nothing more than a continuituy check. The ECU knows the resistance of all the sensors on the vehicle. If you have a bad sensor or sensor connector, you get the light. Once the issue is solved, the next time the truck is started and the light goes off and stays off.

Just pull them apart and plug them back in. Most of the connectors have a double security lock. There will be some head scratching on how to get them apart. Just take some time and figure them out.
