Wheel is SCS Ray10. Tire size is 265/70/17

No, I do not have a lift. But just to be clear, I have them on a 4Runner, not a Tacoma. Tacoma should not require a lift for that wheel with that size tire either though.

Go stock if you want good street performance. Anything that looks mean with have compromises somewhere. I drive the KO2 and gave up a bit in ride comfort and 2 mpg.

Are they the same diameter as stock or are they larger tires?
I went with the 75 over the 70 stock (265/70-16 to 265/75-16) and they are about 1" taller, thus my odometer slowed about 3% making my mileage seem a bit less. The speedometer is spot on now, however! Funny how the factory makes the speedometer read 3% fast so you won't get a speeding ticket, but the odometer is correct!

I am torn between falken wildpeak or cooper at3 LT. I like the way the wildpeak looks better, but i heard about the balancing issues.

I went from 265/70r16 to 235/85r16, about 1" taller and 3.6% more miles per rev, and not too much heavier.

The stiff sidewall is what kills the mph. I also lifted the truck when I put the tires on, but I attribute the mph hit to mostly the sidewall heft.

After doing extensive reading, reviews, comparing weights, and pricing I am going wildpeaks (non E load range) for sure

I'd stay away from the MXT's. I got sucked into getting them to getting them because of the salesman and they were much cheaper than the KO2's I was looking at. While I think they are a great looking tire with deep tread, they wear FAST if you are using them on a daily. They are quite loud, and they don't provide a great ride as well. Just my 2 cents.

Going to go with the WildPeaks for my next set.

I'm in the same boat as OP. Live in Tampa, Florida and taco is my daily to work. 20 miles each way street and highway mostly. No snow obviously, but we get monsoons rains in the summer.

Have the Nitto Terra Grapplers now 265/75/R16s Load rating D. I have put 90,000 miles on these tires, rotating every 6k. Very pleased with them. I'm trying to decide if I want to get a new set or try something different with better fuel economy. Currently average 17 mpg. Have a snug top on the back which doesn't help.

My buddy who convinced me to get the Nitto is now pushing the Duratracs. I don't really use the truck for offroad much. Weekends are spent on the boat.

Trying to decide if I should just go with a street tire but I did/do like the aggressive look of the Nittos/AT tire and these have been good to me for the almost 7 years.

    Appreciate your input.

I have been using the Cooper STTs 275/75/17 now for about two weeks. I put about 60 miles a day round trip to work on them. So far minimum noise level. Only had one raining day and the truck felt good on the wet roads. I live in PA with lots of winding roads and hills. So far I am averaging 18.5 miles to the gal. It’s been over 19 miles to the gal on the short highway trips. So they do use more gas. But with all the hills I figure I burn more fuel. But they add the look I wanted.

How are you liking the AT2’s? What size did you go with?

Almost 10K miles on ‘em and still no complaints. I still like everything about them and does great on my casual weekend off roading. I went with the 265/70r17s. Might scale up to 275s next time around.

I considered ridge grapplers, but they are heavy. Great reviews on them though

How puncture resistant are these? I have the WRANGLER ALL-TERRAIN ADVENTURE WITH KEVLAR - SIZE: 265/70R16 and used them about 1.5 years mainly on the dirt & gravel roads around where I live. There are chunks of rubber missing and I have had 7 punctures (that I remember). The most so far is two in one day (knock on wood). The tread wear is rather significant for 1.5 years - I just pulled out the spare for the first time and was shocked to see how much tread wear there has been on my other tires.

I normally plug holes with my tire repair kit which usually works well. The last two holes took two ropes to mostly plug the holes. Slime, which I only used as a last resort doesn't seem to be helping.

I do care about on road manners - it's 1.5 hours EACH way to the nearest grocery store - but most of my time is on the dirt/gravel roads.

I've ruined two in about 3 years, both times were sidewalls, and both times I was being reckless (should have been aired down for what I was doing). I have beat the ever-living piss out of them off road and have quite a bit of chunking rubber loss but I have never punctured one while aired down. I have put several thousand miles on them aired down to 18 PSI over the sharp crushed granite roads and trails in the Sierras.

For the record I also daily drive mine in the city. The road manners are fine. Not like a passenger car street tire, but fine.

Here's a promo video they put out:

Cool video. I hadn't seen that before. I usually air down. I don't go that low though -10/-15% for gravel roads.

After seeing this post, I'm going with the Nitto Terra Grappler G2's. Good looking sidewall, road like tread (=low noise), 41lbs (=less MPG hit) and low price ($161)!
