    Hi all.

I purchased a used 2017 TRD Sport and it did not come from the factory with the tow package, so I want to add a tow hitch and the harness needed connect to a trailer.

I checked with our local dealer and they informed me that since it's part of the frame, and built in from the factory, that I'll need to install an aftermarket receiver instead of the OEM. Otherwise I would probably need to remove the bed and ish with the frame, and that's not something that I'm comfortable doing...

With that said, I'd like some recommendations for the best suited receiver for my use cases, which will be towing a U-Haul or other small trailer (when moving or to haul music gear for gigs) and possibly towing a small boat or a jet ski trailer.

    Any help is appreciated!

Curt is a pretty commonly used and good hitch.

You still won't have a 'tow package' as that includes components besides the hitch and wiring needed for lights.

However, for your described use, it will work just fine. I put one on my weak 5 lug for similar purposes. Bed extender, bike rack, light trailer, etc.

@Clearwater Bill - I saw the error in my post and have corrected it.

I'm just wanting to add a receiver and the harness/connector.

I'll look into the Curt receiver. Thanks for the suggestion.

Shop price when you look. I put a receiver on my wifes new car. It is a Curt, but the prices varied a bit for the same model. The cheapest prices, with free delivery was ar NAPA on line, and also local pick up at U Haul. The trailer specialty places were much more expensive. I have bought several trailer towing accessories from Curt over the years, all have been good quality. They should have the wiring harness too.
