My 22 SR5 access cab came with the back side windows tinted but not the front side. I just took it to the best tint shop in town to have them match the back. Well they are now similar in darkness, but the factory tint is more smoke grey and aftermarket has a slight green cast. Now I'm looking at other cars on the road and I see this is common, but I don't like it.

Is there an aftermarket tint that is true grey or otherwise matches factory, instead of green grey?

What kind of tint did you get? Ceramic? Top-end ceramic?

I have the highest grade ceramic my shop offered and I haven't noticed any green grey-ness from it.

Toyota rears are super hard to match. I had to get the back tinted with a higher percentage to match. FYI the rears aren't tinted just a dye in the glass.

You'll never get a 100% match. The factory glass has the "tint" made into the glass as opposed to adding a film later.

I got close with 35% ceramic.

As noted by everyone above the difference is hard to match. That said if you go 35 or 50 pct over the factory glass it hides almost all of the color of the smoked glass and is easier to match darker front tint to.

So get this 25% tint removed from the front and then have both front and back tinted to match?

My tint guy advised me NOT to go with ceramic, or at least the kind he offered, because of matching concerns. The one he helped me select is pretty close to if not identical in color to the rears. I also had the back windows done in a lighter film to achieve 20% tint all around.

Do you know what brand or type of tint he used to get that match?

This might be something I get used to by tomorrow, but I'd like to know there are options if I still hate it

Ceramics are much more stable over time. The pigment in the very best dye film will eventually breakdown and turn purple under UV radiation. Most ceramics offer a lifetime warranty against it.

The tint is 7 years old in this picture. Sits out in the sun all day at work.

The 2 fronts have a 'greenish' tint from the factory. When you add tint film, it still shows a little green.

Really? That's weird; they looked like untinted clear glass to my eyes.

I went 50% of the same tint type all around all windows. The rear windows are thus darker than the fronts since the rear smoked glass is darker than 50% already, but all the windows now have a slight grayish tinge to the black that makes them match all around. If I wanted the front windows to match, I'd probably have had them just done in a darker color but using the same tint type to match the color tinge (in my case I mainly wanted the heat reflective properties of ceramic all around without reducing visibility in the front windows too much, so I wasn't trying to match the darkness of the windows)

Just tint the rear windows a bit and you’ll love the look. They’ll be slightly darker than front for more privacy and the truck will look sleek.

idk about that green though. I’d have to see it.

Oh yeah, I do have my rear windows at 0% and front at 5% that's probably why I don't notice any green lol. whoops.

I'd still get ceramic all around for heat reduction and lifetime warranty.

It isn't bothering me quite as much today, because I think the front windows would look darker if the windshield were tinted - it is flooding the front with light and that's part of why they look lighter from the outside. That won't fix the green, but it would be less noticeable.

Both these windows were $100 all in and I suspect top of the line ceramic would cost a bit more?

There are companies that can bake the tint into the glass. May want to look in to that if you're that picky, IMO.

Looks good. I only did the 2 fronts also. LLumar ATC 30. $80 USD installed.
The 2 fronts are a little lighter than the rears, but I'm pretty happy with the results.
