Power Stop is pretty reputable, but I agree, slotted and drilled drums? Interesting. I garage my truck and the rear drums are already pretty rusty. Was thinking of rattle canning them. Thanks for posting this, I may consider this when I replace in a year or two.

I think that webpage is pretty messed up. They're talking about rotors, but display an image of drums.

There are no drums listed on the PowerStop website, but they do have brake shoes available.

I wouldn't order that kit and expect to get what you see in the photo.

It'd be best to call/email to check what they are selling for sure.
Definitely confusing with their description too

Both good points, that website has a kit that includes new rotors AND new drums. They just got the desc. mixed, per a rep I called. I will just PowerStop directly.

If your rear drums are shot you're doing better than me. I'm at 170k and mine have a decent amount of pad left. I pulled them off at 130k when the front OEM pads were toast to find 1/2 pad or more left in the rear.

The drums aren't shot, they are just rust buckets. Want to get a pair that is well coated in zinc, galvie, etc.

depending on how much time you have vs money you'd spend to save time, you can sandblast+paint or get it zinc washed, etc as an option too

Good point. The only issue is the truck is un-drivable while coating is occurring. I don't have a backup.

If you have half a day I'd just bust off the drums and hit em with a wire wheel. I'd pick up a quart of Chassis Saver from Napa and hit em with that. I promise you that stuff will never come off. Also I wouldn't trust extremeterrain. Based off the link you posted you're about as likely to get a new puppy in that box as you are shoes and drums that actually fit.

    BBQ grill paint

All else is a waste of time and money on a big 'ole chuck of cast iron, as that surface rust is just cosmetic.

You are concentrating on care of your frame, right?

Yes, thanks, others have suggested this as well and yes, I sand off any rust spots I find and re-paint, I also do fluid film at least annually

Requesting a 2.5 year later update. Still good? I'm considering this kit or OEM parts. This kit is less expensive.

Are performance drum brakes a thing? Can I get some composite drums?

They are just drums . They are supposed to rust . Just clean the rust off repaint and put them back on . To spend money on this kind of stuff is silly, in my opinion .

I painted mine with POR-15 top coat before the first winter (2017). Just painted them again as a little rust was starting to show. Works great...
