    Now this is awesome!

How does it mate up to the shifter console trim? Got any pictures of that? Also, how does it bolt-to the floor? Did you have to fab some brackets up I assume?

Was it a lot of work to get it to fit and look factory?

EDIT: Nevermind, just saw the link to your thread!

Just edited my post, but check out the build thread, most of that info is in there.

I had to slightly trim the front where it meets the shift console. Not much, but the "tabs" bulge out a little so I shaved them down on the back side.
If you were just bolting in the stock console (no custom fiberglass), you could probably use the 4runner mounting bracket. My truck didn't even have the threaded holes for the tacoma console, so I just ignored that as an option.

Yes it was a lot of work to make a custom sub box.
Keep in mind the 4runner has the ebrake handle in the console, so youll have a big hole there.

That turned out awesome, I'm impressed to say the least. This would actually give me a great place to mount a subwoofer, as I am upgrading my sound system and really having a hard time figuring out where I can fit a subwoofer at the moment.

My oak carpet sure looks grayish now. Seems like it's dyed.

Seems like that "blank" space where the former handbrake lever was could be a terrific spot to mount switches or a USB power outlet.

    Nice idea and execution, @PumpinIron.

In the next couple of weeks, I am going to refresh a heavily worn Oak console using some paint for plastic that comes close to the Oak hue. I'll post on the paint tonight. I found it at Ace Hardware.

Yes, please do share the results, as this is an option I could use as well.

Oh yes, I've seen these in many Jeeps. Stinks that it's too wide!

I like the idea but that seems like overkill for the size of that console. I wouldn't have gone larger than an 8".

Colors are (lighter) London Gray or (darker) Satin Espresso - Paint bonds to plastic. I need to decide which color to use.

If it were me, I think I would go for that satin espresso personally. That almost looks dead on.

Thanks for this, I'm going to have to go look for a can of it now.

Haha, you can't fit a 10" in that console. The main problem is the mounting depth since the console is only about 7" wide and I mounted the sub inset so the top is flush with the side. A 10" circle barely fit on the side, so if you had a shallow mount sub you might be able to pull it off.

I built my own console previously that I put a rather beefy 10" in, but it was 9" wide.

It's currently for sale in the FS section.

Don't use the SEM stuff on Vinyl..Doesn't work. Says it does, it doesn't.

I used to it paint my door cards 7 years ago. The rigid plastic parts have held up great, anything high traffic like door seal protectors and the vinyl like fabric that we all rest our arm on while driving with the window down it won't last in the long run.
