What is a good aftermarket front brake kit for 2003 Takoma that is not prone to warping.
    Thanks in advance

Do some searching on the Tundra 13WL/231mm brake swap. Very easy and way less prone to warping. One of the best mods I've done.

    Tundra u
tudra upgrade only works if you have 17" or larger rims,
If you get High carbon grade steel rotors you will have less chance
of wrapping, the rotors are only as good as the quality of steel they are made from.
R1 concepts sells a HIGH STRENGTH STEEL drilled slotted rotor for around 150
and Green stuff pads work great for me,
Stops on a dime with no warping,

There are 16" wheels that work with the Tundra brakes, as the thread I posted as well as the video state. Just depends on the type.

Also, while slotted rotors are fine, drilled rotors are prone to cracking due to heat-induced fatigue.

Correct! My 16" Methods work fine w/ my 231mm Tundra Calipers!

Ok yes,but stock rims are 15" so if you have 15" which most people have you need to buy new tires and rims,
Plus the rotors and calipers hoses and pads and the early Tacomas I think you need
to replace the master cylinder too, so now we're close to 2000 + for new parts plus labor.
If you buy the cheap steel rotors 50.00 sure they will not last of course.
I have 530,000 miles, never had a cracked rotor and always run drilled and slotted high grade steel, 150.00 per set rotors.
Yes the Tacoma are thinner steel than the tundra and the Tacoma will not last as long. Typicality my rotors last about 75,000 or so, r1 concepts you get a year warranty from wrapping or damage anyway.
Ideally the trundra upgrade is the way to go, but will cost you close to 2000
if you have 15" rims, I would go that route if I had 16" rims but I don't and most people dont.
So for 150.00 for high steel grade rotors I think the steel grade is like 3600 or something
and green stuff rotors 4000 series for 80.00 my truck stops on a dime for 230.00,
If you didn't want drilled and slotted at least go with the 3600? HIGH GRADE steel .

That's kinda understandable if you are stuck with 15 in wheels. But it seems like most people upgrade their wheels and tires on their trucks. The reason why i said go with the 231 kit was because he asked for and aftermarket brake kit, which i assumed he meant bigger calipers and rotors. As far as the master i didnt have to change mine and it works perfect, my truck being a 98 i consider it an early model. If anyone is interested here's the kit i ordered, $251 for all the parts doesn't seem like a horrible deal.

16" were standard on 2001 and up, 95-00 were 15"

you can literally pick up a set of 16" rims for under 200 (even 100 as no one really like the twisted 5-star)

2nd Gen already use the 231 size so any 2nd gen rims will work, even the steel.

you are correct that the 231WL will not work with 15's so if you already have a set of wheel/tires then either hold off or invest :)

Toyota rotors are still one of the best to get, they tend to last

I got lucky when I did my Tundra upgrade. I had 16" rims w/ 4.5" of BS and obviously the 2006 4x4 limited donor Tundra had Toyota rotors & 231mm WL's Not components from the parts store. Although I've heard mixed reviews about which are really better. I would think OEM. Plus I added Wheeler's brake lines. So I had no problems w/ the banjo bolt.

Well I can't replace my new tires and rims for less than 1500, too bad, maybe later when the tires are
