I read a post on here a while back about aftermarket batteries and which one was the best but I can't seem to find it. The one that a lot of people I said was the best I had never heard of before and it wasn't an Optima battery it was something else does anyone know which one is the best. I have a 2019 Toyota Tacoma and I'm going to be pulling a bass boat across the United States and I don't want my battery to fail as it's almost 3 years old now

Odyssey and Northstar (also branded as x2 at batteries plus) are often regarded as two of the best brands

optima fan here. been using yellow tops for everything. most of them didn't fail for at least 6 years. had one go for 10 years before it started to get sketchy. i used it as a trolling battery for two years after that.

I've heard that in the last few years, they aren't as good as they used to be, but the current two that i have are 4 years old and i think i got them before the company recently had problems (if that's even true)

Do you want a battery that will work, or a battery that will be easier to replace if it fails, or the best battery hands down?
I have no scientific proof of this but Optimas have gone downhill in the last 20 years. Northstar is among the best, and you can buy it online and have it shipped to you. X2 power is a rebranded northstar, and if you don't mind blue in your engine compartment you can save a few dollars and buy it at batteries+bulbs where you can change it out.

For flooded batteries, the Costco branded interstates are inexpensive and can be changed out easily if need be.

If you don't have anything wrong with your truck you shouldn't have to change it out.

Full Throttle are also top shelf but I have no scientific proof. Easy to buy (online) but hard to replace (limited dealer network).

I would lean towards Costco interstate (cheap, easy) as my #1 choice considering money, and Full Throttle or X2 power as my #1 choice if I wanted to spend more.

If I were really concerned about failure in remote places and I had room I would keep the removed, charged up, original in the bed and return the core to Costco when I got where I was going.

IMG_20220321_144044021.jpg IMG_20220321_144054162.jpg I got 4 years on my OEM Truestart 24F and knew it was going to be that time so I jumped the gun and bought the Toyota 27F battery and 2015 Tacoma battery tray and it fits perfect. Too much money for the AGM batteries and didn't want to adjust the tune to change the alternator settings. Anyhow the Toyota battery is just a rebranded Interstate made by Johnson Controls and was way more battery than I needed but I liked the power it has and a 2 year replacement then 84 months prorated warranty with roadside service towing. Battery was $119 dealer cost and the tray was like $30.

If you want to lighten your wallet as much as your truck, try an antigravity lithium battery. It cranks hard! I heard that not ideal in freezing cold though, but I have no experience on that one.

I’m no expert here but I thought I’ve read lithium’s don’t like heat and being in the engine compartment. Replying here to simply get confirmation on this or to refute it. I would love to be able to do that.

I've used lithium batteries on a few motorcles

in my Kawasaki concours, that battery sat right in a hot spot above the transmission next to the engine block. didn't seem to give me any problems.

be aware that a much smaller lithium battery than your lead battery will have way more Cranking amps. but it will not have nearly as many amp Hours.

basically They can crank hard, but they drain fast.

I have the KDMAX Pro tune but I didn't need to adjust it because I didn't go with an AGM battery.
