Greetings, I have a 2014 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner/extended cab with 79,000 miles. I just replaced the tires and struts/shocks. Tires are Michelin Defender L/T M/S and shocks are Monroe. (Previous tires were BFG Trail)

In the first 2 weeks, I had to have the tires re-balanced 2 more times due to high vibration at all speeds. I've now driven 600 miles but still have a bouncy ride with a little vibration. Mechanic(s) say it everything checks out, but one did state that this tire/tread needs to be on a heavier truck, hence the bounce. Is this normal? Should I change the tires out? Or, will it smooth out over time? Thank you for your assistance.

Can you show us a picture of your new Monroe shocks?

    Welcome aboard!

Also, those tires won't cause a bounce on your truck. None will. That's rubbish, and a dumbass mechanic.

What load range on the tires? The mechanic could be on to something, but I don't believe that is the issue.
You can try rotating the tires, and swapping them left/ right to see if the problem persists, moves, or goes away.
Also what psi are you running in the tires?

Bounce definitely not but could explain the vibrations. I agree mechanic sounds like a fool.

Over inflated E rated tires on a passenger tire truck can absolutely cause a rough ride.

Lots of shit can go wrong when you put Monroe shocks together with stock coils when you have a dumbass doing the install. I suspect that's where your problem is coming from, and your tires (by now) should be balanced properly. Again, a picture tells us everything.

If he's had his new tires mounted, then balanced 3x more, I'd suspect we are not talking about a tire pressure problem.

When OP tells us what PSI he’s running, then we’ll know.

Don’t want to be another person overlooking the obvious. Had a lot of dumb tire techs who can’t run a balancer and warranty 6 tires out before saying my wheels must be out of round. Both sets.

    Imagine the odds.

Agree. OP what pressure are you running in the tires? Try lowering the PSI a few.

They had them at 36, but changed them to 32. They did not rotate only balanced. I had a debate with them as to the newness of my structs/shocks due to rust on them straight out of the shop.

I'm guessing the mechanic was talking about the load range. That probably has something to do with it, also monroe makes junk.
Probably a twofold problem. But again, this is something only so much can be done with armchair mechanics

Monroe and other complete strut makers often make thinker coils to be cheaper, and that also makes for a harsher ride. Your old springs were probably fine, just needed new shocks all round.

I haven’t run Monroe shocks since I was a kid and wanted some soft valving freeway shocks.

I’d start there; PSI isn’t an issue. Try Bilstein 4600HDs.

Excuse my big pictures and lack of knowledge, I'm new to posting here. Some of the mechanics answers I'm getting at shop aren't making sense to me, but they have my money now and I just want it fixed. My last thought was could it be the U joints?

U joints are not for suspension, if that is what your asking.

It was the Toyota dealer that stated the bounce was the tire tread for my truck, size was right, tread was wrong. I bought the tires and struts/shocks from Tire Kingdom, long time customer but this is the first time I've had such an issue.

It’s not the tires, I also have the defenders and there very smooth at any speed.

Yeah not driveshaft related. Anybody that says tire tread is model specific ate too many crayons as a kid - not surprised a Toyota dealer said that.

Hard to tell but that spring perch doens't look like the coil is seated properly.....either way, you have a combination of things going on IMO......a heavier, 10 ply tire (I'm guessing) that are compounding road imperfections because you have a shock that's not comparable to what was on it before. They look like they are installed correctly, so probably a valving issue - as stated above, what Monroe makes isn't very desirable for our Tacomas.
