Good evening folks! Whenever I was looking for a exhaust, I stumbled upon the AFE rock basher. However, I could only find two videos of it on a Tacoma but I decided to make the purchase anyways and just put it on. I included multiple sound tests from me of it in case anyone else was trying to figure out what it sounded like for reference I have a 3.5 L V6.

I think it sounds pretty sweet. It isn’t too loud when driving and doesn’t drone very much to my ears of course sound subjective but that’s my take on it.

I’ve heard from someone that has a 2.7 that it sounds better than the v6. Curious to know if that’s true. Let me know how you like it!

Installed the AFE Rock Basher on my 2023 2.7l today! Loving the tone, really wakes up above 2500rpms. Not sure where all the hate comes from, it sounds deeper and has a little more rasp to it, definitely not 'ricey' (I should know, drove a wrx for 4 years). It's not a v6 or a v8 it's a 4 banger and I like the AFE rock basher on my little 2.7l

Sorry to reply to the old thread but did you notice your rpms drop when you come to a stop? I just installed mine and it drops to 600-700 rpm when I come to a stop. I can't remember if my truck did this before I installed it

Yes. I do have a slight fluctuation in rpm, usually as I decelerate right around 34mph. I’m assuming some slight back pressure. I’ve had it on for months now, no issues , runs fine except for that fluctuation. I can’t imagine it’s anything that would damage the bullet proof 2.7, but I’m not a mechanic/engineer.

How's the drone when driving on highway at constant speeds?

I didn't really hear any. I drive around 40 minutes to work on the highway. My rpms are just below 2k when driving.

I installed one on Friday. Sounds good. But I’m getting vibrations in the cab now. I doubled and triple checked everything. Are there better rubber hangers out there to absorb the vibrations?
