I can't let the wife know
I have a 06 access cab 6 speed MT 4x4 V6 with about 130xxx miles. Having weird vibrations lately. From a dead stop making a right or left I get the vibration. I replaced both front tires and it is still there. Found one tie rod end joint, that was a bit worn. Replaced that, but still have vibrations. No recent mods in the past year ( sad I know). So I have eliminated front suspension ( I can be wrong) because I noticed when the vibration is happening and I press the clutch in or shift to neutral, it goes away. Starting looking into the drive train but nothing stands out. I get about 1/2 inch of movement from the drive shaft center support bearing. If I push on it very hard it moves up about 1/2 or if I pull down, about the same. The rubber does not look torn and bearing doesn't make any noise. Any advice is appreciated.

Hard to decipher your problem, if its steering it sounds like the steering shaft from the rack to the wheel, there's a u joint that wears and seizes, have someone turn the wheel and watch the joint.

Otherwise you should have the ball joints properly tested unloaded and loaded.

Check the rack and pinion, is the rack moving, bushings worn etc.

Wheel bearings? Upper/lower ball joints? If it happens when steering, might be inner or outer tie rods?

Checked all of front suspension. Grabbed the 3 and 9 position for the tie rods and that is when I found 1 that it wouldn't hurt to replace. Grabbed the 12 and 6 position and ball joints are good. The vibration does go away when clutch is in or neutral. Only get it under acceleration and turning. I should add I have the mechanical LSD and fluids are good. Less than 5 thousand miles since I replaced it.

if you have an LSD and you get that shudder in a turn, try adding more LSD additive, some gear oil like redline has additive in it, some vehs need more, if you did it 5k ago I'd strongly suspect it needs more, after adding additive go do tight fiqure 8 in a parking lot so it can work its way into the clutches quicker

If you can move that support bearing 1/2 " it's time to replace it.

It’s the two piece drive shaft that’s is shuddering when you accelerate. The center support bearing is probably worn out a little. I just replaced my whole driveshaft with a Tom woods 1 piece. Best decision I’ve done. Completely eliminated all vibrations and shudders have been eliminated.

Ya closer to $800 I think. But I’m in Hawaii and everything is more expensive out here. It’s worth every penny. The truck is really smooth and very responsive. 58049FF3-D0F7-474F-87D8-9907EB944E5D.jpg7B63F014-273E-4B01-B6C9-7401257845FB.jpg

Before I did this, I honestly felt that I might snap my drive shaft when I wanted to take off quickly from a stop. Haha. Now it takes off quick, it’s awesome! But ya a bit pricey…

So you’re feeling the vibration in the floor/seats, not the steering wheel correct?

and you said from a dead stop, turning left or right it vibrates. If you go straight it’s normal?

I hear the vibration more than I feel it. I replaced the diff oil ( dealer brand ) and added the additive. Didn't go away, but I suspect its the carrier. Correct when I'm turning and mostly to the left.

    Sounds like a wheel bearing

    All stock, baby!
If you can get access to a GoPro or equivalent camera with a magnetic mount, or strap a cellphone to the frame aimed at the center bearing, you can get a video of what's going on there. If it's jumping around you've found the culprit, if not you can see whether a U-joint is bad. Someone did this a few months ago and posted the video, was nice to see the problem so clearly.

Will a wheel bearing still vibrate in neutral and turning? I never experienced a bad wheel bearing

A Wheel bearing shouldn’t care if you’re in drive vs neutral.

You mentioned the vibes only happen when turning. A driveshaft doesn’t care if you’re turning. A wheel bearing or steering component would though
