Recently got an iPhone, and any time the phone is connected to bluetooth and I adjust the volume knob on tacoma, the apple music app automatically loads up and starts playing music. Really annoying. I just want to hear GPS directions, but when I try to adjust the volume I get apple music app start playing automatically.

How to turn this off? Computer illiterate here.

If you don’t use Apple Music you can just uninstall it. I don’t have that issue so I can’t help too much lol.

Is it the knob adjustment ? Or are your fingers activating the touch screen when turning that tiny ass volume knob ? It’s easy to do. Those little knobs suck. Several threads about upgrades.

    Oh look, another mod....
There's a very simple solution for this problem. Get rid of the iPhone and get an Android phone. Tacoma's hate iPhone. This is a fact. :)

I have an iPhone and have never had the Apple Music app activate because I adjusted the volume on the head unit. I’m skeptical the head unit volume sends any sort of signal to the iPhone. I also have not been able to use Apple Maps without the iPhone being connected via a usb cable. Apple Car Play doesn’t work over Bluetooth last I checked. So I’m confused exactly what is happening to you.

Oooh I’m going to try this. Every time I start my truck if I left the radio on some random music from apple, that I don’t even own, starts playing. Super annoying.

I’ve seen a behavior sort of like that. The head unit pops up some random folk song, always the same one, and suggests I could listen to it, but it doesn’t actually play it. This only happens if I had been using pandora via Bluetooth previously. I don’t like folk music, so apple is wasting their time.

FYI, I have a Samsung Galaxy S21 and when i'm hooked up to android auto, if I adjust the volume it immediately starts playing spotify. It only does it 4/5ths of the time, sometimes it doesn't do it and i have no idea why. If i'm listening to a podcast on youtube and i fuck with the volume i immediately get blasted with music loud as fuck. It's not an issue exclusive to apple

Mine is weird. I only use Spotify. But there isn’t a correlation between what I played before.

I 100% don’t own the music it plays. It usually the same one for a week or so then it switches. I never let the song finish because it’s usually bad. Haha

I just checked my iPhone and found no Apple Music app. I’m guessing I removed it a long time ago, possibly because of this issue.

So, I have a similar issue. I always connect my iphone via blue tooth and listen to my music i load on my phone. Most times when i start my truck up, the head unit will come on and after a few seconds it will start to play my music automatically, i usually just pause the music on the head unit. If i adjust the volume on the head unit, it will unpause the music and start to play. I've just become used to it at this point and accept the fact that it's an inferior technology i'm working with.

I’m pretty sure that’s my issue. Just looked at the app (said I need to log in or start trial which is weird since it plays music) and the last song that played was one I’ve heard in my truck.

I’ve definitely noticed inconsistency in whether pandora reconnects automatically when I start my truck after having had it connected via Bluetooth previously. I find it annoying when it doesn’t auto-reconnect most of the time. Overall I’ve found the Bluetooth and especially the q charger to be unreliable. Now I use the usb cable.

TBQH, there are several moving parts and it’s hard to find which one to blame.

I like to picture Steve Jobs full of worms underground… it brings a smile to my face.

I hate apple products - or their approach to customer experience. Certainly works for ‘em!

My wife is a fan, and her apple stuff is a constant disaster. She asks me to fix it - ha!
The printer is broken - no it is not… prints fine from my pc…
    :frusty:

I have an iPhone only because she swore she NEEDED the new one. Cause her phone was inexplicably broken upon the launch of the new one…:notsure:

I killed my android and took her ‘broken’ phone - cause I know my chickens…

The phone of course is perfectly fine - BUT it remains a stupid iPhone. I’ve had it for almost 3 years now. :annoyed:

She just needed to spend $$$ to get the ‘cool’ (???) new one. It has a different plug, you know!
    :jerkoff:

so I am stuck with the stupid thing…

I have the same Apple Music issue. I use YouTube for music but Apple Music often insists on playing Apple Music… %*^#€¥

I promptly deleted the app - and guess what - it still happens sometimes.

I have the handme down iphones from my wife now so no more Android for me, her iphone can’t print to the freaking printer we bought that has Airprint but my PC and all the other PCs have no issues ever. And I listen to music via YouTube music.
    Creepy man!! LOL

From the Tacoma while on Apple Carplay , I tell it Hey Siri, play Tupac on Youtube Music. I kept telling it where to play my music from and the bitch finally learned!!

So now I just tell it Hey Siri , Play Mariah Carey and freaken snow starts falling from the sky and she pops out in my Tacoma screen.

    :thumbsup::rofl:
