Does anyone own a coilover with a adjustable compression damping

It seems like a good choice When I want to tune them when I'm on or off road and adjust them when adding weight

Fox, Emu, king, and bilstein have their own version

    I mostly do overlanding

What you guys recommendation and opinion

Have had my ARB BP-51 setup for going on a year and a half now and about 15k miles. The ride is awesome. Dampening adjustments are not the easiest to make due to their design, but I have been able to dial it in to where is rides great daily as well as I have settings noted down for loaded with camping gear and for towing. Really makes the truck handle well under all conditions I have put it through. No failures of the coilovers or shocks in that time, but I did have a balljoint get loose on the ARB UCA's at about 3k miles on the kit. ARB sent me a new joint within a couple of days and I have had zero issues since.

I wish I would have paid the extra for it on mine.

I've had them for a little over 2.5 years. See install pics here. No need for a rebuild. Shocks are still performing as designed

    Awesome

What's your set up for your shocks?

I'm planning to get 2.5 or 3.0 lift so I can add bigger wheels and better clearance

Springe rate not sure since I'm planning to add a bumper in the future and still not sure what bumper to choice depending on their weight

Also where did you bought your control arms?
Looking to get them for a cheaper price if possible

Do you mind sharing your compression and rebound settings for daily use?

I was at front c3r5, rear c4r2 - plush ride, but rolled a lot in corners so I went to the extreme in the other direction with c9r8. This setting is not ideal. Its flatter in corners but does not absorb bumps well at all. It also skips over bumps in a turn. So now I am thinking a happy medium. Maybe around c6r6 and drive that for a while. These shocks came on the truck and I think the main issue I am having is that the installer set the preload to around 20mm so ultimately I probably need to remove them and dial that down a bit because they top out. Unless the ideal rebound setting can stop that which I doubt

I dont have any real added weight other than a dual battery setup so its probably difficult to compare.

I dont have much added weight either. On board air and rock sliders is really all I have at the moment. My front coils are set at 12mm preload on the LF, 10mm in the RF. I have a 1/2" Headstrong spacer on top of the LH coilover and a 1/4" spacer on the RF to set the front at the height I wanted without cranking preload. Rebound is at 7, compression at 5. Rear shocks are as follows: Rebound at 5, compression at 3. I should note I did remove one of the leafs from the rear leaf pack so they are now at their medium setting.

I think a fair bir of the ride issues you have may be due to the preload up front. It seems that the BP-51's top out very quick with a lot of preload in them.

That's great info, thanks. I agree and I wish it was set up like yours with spacers for height vs preload. Ultimately I'll likely end up doing what you did and remove a leaf because I think that's the easiest way to have a compliant shock without a ridiculous rake with this set up- also I don't have big tires so it really isn't necessary. I think I'll give your settings a shot as far as rebound and compression and see how it handles this week.

OP: these are good things to consider if you're going to go with bp-51 (maybe other coils too). I would consider getting your ride height from a combination of preload (threads on the shock body) and shim spacers so your shocks don't bottom out and function as designed.

I appreciate having the ability to dial in handling with rebound and compression settings. With these coilovers it is a bit of a chore getting the rings to spin. Not a big deal just maybe not something you'd want to do super frequently.
