So, I ordered a set of TRD emblems off Ebay, and am waiting for them to arrive. I have a couple of questions as to the placement of them. Obviously, the grill emblem goes on the driver's side to the right of the Toyota Emblem in the center of the grill. I assume it goes in the center of the right hand section of the grill (2013 model grill), or does it go a little more to the right of that?

What I am unsure of is where exactly the correct placement of the tailgate emblem is. I have seen a couple Tacomas around town with the emblem on the lower right hand (passenger) side of the tail gate. However, I am unsure what the proper order placement is dependent on other options/emblems present. I know on the left is "Tacoma" at the bottom with "Toyota" above that both aligned to the left. On the right I have seen "V6" or "V6 SR5" (when SR5 package is present) and on some, "PreRunner" above those, all aligned to the right.

Mine is a 2013 Access Cab, 4x4 TRD Off Road package, so I have "Toyota" and "Tacoma" in the lower left and just "V6" in the lower right. The Tacomas I've seen with the TRD emblems were older models, and just had the "TRD" in the bottom right. So where would the proper placement be on mine? To the left of the V6, or should that one be moved to read "V6 TRD" or does it go above the V6 aligned right like the "PreRunner V6" models have it?

Did any Tacoma ever come with these emblems, or are they all owner installed only? I apologize in advance for the wall of text, I just want to get my facts straight and put the emblem in the correct placement on my tail gate. Please refrain from the urge to say "Your truck, put it wherever you want." I'm a stickler for correct emblems on correct model vehicles, and just want to know the proper placement if there is one. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
The only trd emblem that comes stock is on the bajas, and thats probably not the emblem you got on ebay. I removed the V6 and SR5 emblem on the tailgate and put a trd emblem there. I also removed the toyota emblem and just left tacoma on the left side, all my emblems are blacked out.

I debadged all of the stock emblems and added a TRD on the lower right side of the tailgate.

    Also added one inside.

And just recently ditched the Off Road decals and got these.

Very nice, I like the one you placed inside too. I think the set I got includes 3 total badges, I might do that with the extra one. Maybe above the glove box, not sure.

I don't want to de-badge on my Tacoma though, just add the TRD. Would it look better next to the lone V6 badge on the right, or above it, aligned to the right with it?

The emblems came in the mail the other day. I put the grill TRD emblem on the front to the right, and it looks sharp. Still trying to figure out the tailgate placement. My TRD Off Road has "Toyota" and "Tacoma" on the left, and a lonely "V6" on the right of the tail gate. Pictures I've viewed show some with "PreRunner" on the top right, followed by "V6 SR5" beneath that.

So, based on that type of factory placement, I am thinking of also getting a "4x4" emblem to add. How would that determine the right side placement? Would it be "TRD" on the top followed by "V6 4x4" on the bottom?

I think I'd have to move the V6 emblem, because I've seen some pics of Tundra tailgates with "V8 4x4" on the lower right hand side. Just trying to go with what makes the most sense.

If you're going to add 4x4, then put the TRD badge above them.
If not, I'd put the TRD badge on the level with the V6 badge.

Thanks Rich, that's what I was thinking too. TRD above, and V6 4x4 on the bottom line. Thanks for the input.

I added the emblems to my tailgate today. I used painter's tape and a level and a ruler to get them just right. I tried a few different test arrangements by just taping them to the tailgate first. Some of them looked off to me, until I decided on this arrangement. The Toyota 4x4 emblem is bigger, and I ended up putting it where "PreRunner" would go on that model. the TRD emblem I placed to the left of the V6 rather than try to move the emblem already there, and I think it looks best this way. What do you think of the result?

Thanks for the feedback, I like the way it looks too. Just enough to have my Truck badged correctly for what it is, but not anything more than any other Tacoma I've seen out there. It is odd that we have to add such badges to a higher model Tacoma when I've seen basic models with more tailgate badging.

PreRunners have badging stating that they are just that, and most also have an SR5 badge too. I tried to mimic that style with my placement, mine is 4x4 instead of PreRunner, and mine is a TRD. I know the V6 goes before the SR5 on those models, but it looked more balanced to have that TRD emblem with the little flag to the left rather than have to move the V6 badge which was already in place.

Hopefully this will give some ideas to anyone considering doing something similar.
