So I just got a new Taco, really wanted blind spot but I got the only 4x4 available in swfl at the time lol so I couldn’t be picky.

I couldn’t find any info on this, but what is the path of least resistance to adding blind spot monitors?

I’m wondering if the mirrors are already wired for it and buying a replacement mirror face would simply plug in, or if the bsm system is self-contained in the side mirror and I just have to replace the entire side mirror housing, or if there are other things what would have to be installed.

I get any software notifications wouldn’t happen, but interested in the mirror light.

    Thanks!

I am interested in knowing too. Got the SR5 with the 2.7L....and Toyota in their wisdom felt that the 2.7L owners didn't need the BSM.

There are sensors in the rear quarter/bumper that you'd need to make it work, and from what I hear, they're pricey. No idea on whether your computer is programmed for it either, but you'd need that too.

If you're lucky, sometimes you see the sensors on this board from a member that took them off for a steel bumper install.

I would not be surprised if it is pre-wired for it. You would need mirrors, sensors and the button at absolute minimum. Hopefully someone else can confirm this. I honestly would not waste my money on it. I don't find the blind spots all that bad on these trucks (Even with the topper). I honestly find that once you get used to the truck it is just another thing that blends in and you forget about it. I don't like nanny features to begin with so my opinion is slightly jaded.

Probably boils down to cost. If the 2.7 models were too close to the 3.5, nobody would be buying them.

Probably good advice....I didn't think about the bumper sensors. I have added the small blind spot mirrors and they work great.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I’m told the sensor may be there and it may be wired for it so I’m wondering if that’s the case on these. Honestly if I would have to find and install sensors, I’d get the small mirrors as well and call it a day.

Thanks guys, just got it yesterday, drove around today and blind spots aren’t bad, will probably try the spotter mirror. Needed it for a trailer today.

I got the RAV4 mirrors to help with blind spot. It was a lot cheaper and a quick fix.

My husband liked it when he drove my truck that he ordered a pair for the fo runna. Fit perfectly on both the taco and fo runna. Those mirrors should come stock on all Toyotas.

you pushed me over the edge, just ordered! I have been wanting these for a while now, the stick on ones be the poopoos and the driver's side sticky fell off and I can't get the adhesive off without ripping the whole mirror off so now is the time!
