I recently purchased a BOSS Audio BE62CP along with new Pioneer 6x9" speakers for the front doors and installed them the other day, because I wanted a more modern head unit that we could connect our phones to easily without breaking the bank. I am not entirely happy with the sound quality that I am getting. It seems almost crackly especially when connected over bluetooth and not great dynamics in the sound even after messing with the EQ. I feel like I had better bass and treble from the 100% stock setup I had before with my GTA Car Kit for bluetooth.

My question is, if I added an inexpensive amp like the Pioneer TS-A693FH and used that instead of the internal amp on the head unit (it has an option to turn off the internal amp) then is it likely that the sound quality would improve?

Pretty unlikely. Everything about boss is as cheap as it gets.

Dang, alright. Would I be better off if I returned the BOSS and got something like the Pioneer MVH-S322BT as far as sound quality without an amp?

yes, that would be a better option, though i don't personally like the concept of yet another app to install and deal with.
