    Hello All,

I ordered a 2021 TRD Pro. I provided the accessories I wanted and the dealer rep sent a "build sheet" back to me confirming we are on the same page. The truck has been built and when I looked up the vehicle spec sheet using the vin # there are a bunch of "Port" installed accessories on the sheet that I didn't request. This includes Predator Tube Step, Graphics Pkg and a few others.

The response from the dealership when I brought this up is that you get what you get if you are offered that allocation spot. While I can appreciate that for the factory installed options, does it make sense that they added a bunch of port installed options that I didn't ask for? I'm really not excited about paying for things I will want to remove from the truck and thought that was the whole purpose behind putting in an "order".

    Thanks!

First you did not "order" a Tacoma, you gave a dealership your wish list and they told you what you wanted to hear.

You can try telling the dealership that the deal is off unless they remove these unwanted accessories but in this market don't be surprised if the dealer says no problem we'll cancel the sale and sell the truck to someone else who walks onto our sales lot tomorrow.

    BINGO!
You are in SET or GST, because Toyota won’t do that.
Your only other option is to negotiate your way out of those “options” with the dealership. Take it as is, or cancel/walk away and work your order out with a non-SET or non-GST dealer (head north).

Try to see if the dealer will take off the accessories you don't want.

If not, just remove the stuff you're not interested in and sell it on here once you reach the required post count. The predator steps sell pretty quickly from what I've seen.

If you're covered under the SET umbrella and you have the LED illumination package, keep it. That's one of my favorite accessories.

Thanks for the replies, really helpful. I'm assuming SET and GST is geographic? I'm in the Pacific Northwest if that helps. My main concern was being "scammed" by the dealership, and aside from not really explaining what they meant by "we ordered one for you" it doesn't sound like I am.

Agree with the suggestions to negotiate and possibly selling things like the predator tubes. My biggest concern is the "3B TRD Pro Graphics Package". Not sure if it was offered in 2021, but hoping this is not the $699 hood/bedside package I've seen on some pros in previous years.

    Thanks again for the help.

They sell at a loss (steps), he still would not make all his money back on add-ons he doesn't want. I purchased back in September of last year and managed to get an an allocation with no adds. In current times for sure the dealer will tell you to take it or leave it, as 100% if you don't take it someone else will.

Graphic package looks exactly like previous years, see 2021 photo below.

Going to be difficult to negotiate this one other than having the dealership remove the decals from the truck for you. Yes its crazy that you're paying for decals that will be stripped off and thrown in the trash but if the dealer will do the physical removal at no charge at least you're saving yourself some time. If not a warm day and/or a hair dryer will make quick removal of the decals.

Dealership didn’t screw you, Toyota distributor (aka mafia) did. Long history I won’t go into but basically if you buy from specific states there is a middle man between Toyota as a manufacturer and the dealership. There are two of these middle men distributors, Golf states & Southeast. They usually add total and utter shit, and if you buy off the lot it’s hard not to get a Toyota without their junk added and it’s called “port installed”. But if you order and the dealership / salesman has some clout, usually they can get the vehicle without said junk added. You could talk to the dealership and say you’ll refuse to take delivery with any port accessories added, but at the moment with limited supply that might not work.

Exactly. Every Toyota model coming to the Southeast has that $73 "phone cable and charge package" added at the port. A little plastic bag with $20 worth of cell phone charging cables and a USB adapter. Things that anyone with a cell phone already has.

Same happened to me getting some things i didn't request. When discussing it with the dealer its all part of a technology package that goes on the truck along with what i requested. Really can't complain...its a little more than i wanted but it came with everything i requested. We split the difference on the stuff i didn't need.

I put down a deposit on an allocated '21 SR5 4x4 SB about 4 months ago. When I saw the port installed options, I asked my salesperson to take them off and he did. I had no problems taking off those options installed at the port. Good luck! I've had my truck for two weeks now and I am loving it!

I thought I would post a follow-up. I picked up my truck today. As expected, there was very little room to negotiate given the demand for this trim. I was able to get a little more for my trade in and they agreed to remove the graphics package for me. Anyway, it is what it is. I really like the truck so no regrets.
