Just curious if i can add the transmission fluid thru the dipstick tube on my taco? If so, will it take forever or is there another place? Thanks TW.

    Reserected from the dead.
If you have a 2012, you don't have a dipstick tube.

Have to pump it in the side of the transmission.

Nobody (2nd gens) has a dipstick tube for the transmissions.

OP - PLEASE PLEASE do not pour automatic transmission fluid down the regular oil dipstick tube.

Are you serious? What is the tube with the clasp looking thingy that sits on the right side of engine back close to firewall, if your standing at the front of truck?

No manual I've seen in any vehicle has a dipstick tube. They use a gear oil, not tranny fluid.

Apparently the 4.0 auto do not have a dipstick and use the WS tranny fluid. The 4 cyl auto has a dipstick and uses the type lV tranny fluid.

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
Always wondered why Toyota made the 6 cyl as a sealed tranny (no dipstick) but not the 4 cyl.

Not sure if it is the 4 vs 6 cyl Camry, but my buddies tranny is sealed as well.

I drained the fluid from the pan, guess most don't recommend "flushing" the trans, so I will be just draining and replacing every 30,000 or so, 4 qrts came out and 4 qrts went in. Now the level is just a hair below the upper full mark when warmed up.

hey did you add thru the tube? I have an 04 3.4 V6 auto and I need to drain and fill mine maybe today. I do not have a means right off top of my head to pour from side so filling through dipstick tube would be much better for me

You can purchase a plastic funnel specially made for filling through the transmission dipstick tube at most auto parts stores.

I actually used a long tip funnel that I had. It's about a foot long, the actual stem and fit right in the tube. I was just skeptical as to how much I could pour steadily as to it maybe backing up but it seem to work fine even if you pour at a fast rate.

How often do you change your fluid? Mine is an 04 auto 3.4 4X4 163 k miles. I bought it Jan 2015 with 113 k and this is the first time changing it.
