I have a 2019 Tacoma Off Road double cab with the 5’ bed. I need to carry a couple of 14’ kayaks. I need secure storage and also already have a Backflip MX4 tonneau. I just found the Adarac rack system with straight vertical supports that works with the Backflip. This appears to be an ideal solution. It is also possible to add two short crossbars (I know I would not then be able to open the tonneau) for a basket rack under the kayaks. All of the uprights are easily removable when not needed. My question is this. Is there a reason there is little or no talk about the Adarac system for Tacoma’s? Is it because it looks like a work setup rather than a sport setup? Is it because you have to drill into the tops of the bed rails to install the tracks? Other reasons?

I just ordered the Adarac for the same reason (kayaks and tonneau cover). Also considering a roof-top tent for occasional use. A third set of uprights and crossbar can be easily added if weight is a concern. Following this thread and will update when installation is complete.

The installation was pretty straightforward, and the rack feels solid. I was worried about having to trim the Gator FX cover, but there is plenty of space. 20210214_151347.jpg

Looks good. It looks like the rack channel hangs out over the side a bit at the back but not in the front. Do you see any problem with that in terms of appearance or function?

The rails are parallel so no issues functionally. The appearance doesn't bother me at all, and I love that the rack is barely visible in the mirrors and doesn't block the brake light. You could probably mount it closer to the tonneau cover to avoid the overhang, but I stuck to the provided template to be safe.

Added a third crossbar and tent, happy with the result! 20210227_231317.jpg 20210227_231419.jpg

Looks great. Thanks for the update. I definitely think I will go with the Adarac.

Looks great. How difficult was the install? Your mounting holes look smaller than the instructions on the website.
