I was bleeding my brakes this weekend and accidentally let the brake fluid reservoir run dry. It sucked in a large gulp of air. Gah!!!

Is there anything special that I need to do? Or just continue bleeding until I don't see air bubbles coming out anymore?

Also, seeing as I've already bled each caliper, can I simply purge all the air out of one caliper? Or do I need to bleed each caliper again?

    Thanks

Just keep bleeding each wheel over & over & over again until you get a firm pedal. I'm not sure how the Tacoma is...but there is a method to which wheels to do first/last. RF, LF, RR, LR perhaps? I've never bled my 2nd gen, just other vehicles.

Start bleeding from the farthest wheel first, right rear, left rear, right front, left front. I would start bleeding the master first.

Okay, is there any particular method to bleeding the master cylinder? Thanks

And by the way, it's a 2002 tacoma 3.4 prerunner.

Top off fluid, have a buddy apply pressure to pedal while you crack open lines from master, do each til fluid comes out. If your not comfortable with that. Just go to each caliper/cylinder and bleed in the order I gave you. It will take a while til all air is out. I usually take a brake fluid bottle and turn it upside down into my reservoir and keep it there til done with entire procedure

It's a vacuum pump, I don't recommend using one, they can lead to getting air in brake system. Most auto manufacturers recommend using a pressure bleeder, which is hooked up to the brake master and pushing fluid out while filling master continuously. If you can't get your hands on a pressure bleeder just go old school on it and manually bleed brakes.

That is a pressure bleeder. Attaches to the master.

Thank you for the info. It really helps. I went ahead and checked out what the FSM recommends as well. If you run the reservoir dry, it says:

    1. Remove the brake lines from the MC.
    2. Slowly press down on the brake pedal and hold down.
    3. Place fingers over the open ports on MC that you exposed by disconnecting the brake lines in step 1. Release the brake pedal, while keeping finger tips in open ports.
    4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 several more times.
    5. Replace brake lines and bleed each caliper as usual.

Will this work in the same way you suggested above?
