I have an 09 access cab and it sounds like there are speakers in the roof. Anyone know what size they are? Or if are there spots in the rear doors for speakers behind the plastic? I'm thinking this might be a better place for the rear speakers?

generally called an exciter or transducer. though i wasn't aware anyone was using them in oem vehicle applications.

i'm somewhat familiar with them. they were originally developed by NXT for hidden speaker applications. many gas pumps use them behind the displays for the audio of those annoying ad's.

i suspect the patent ran out in the last couple years, as new iterations from many other companies have come out recently

Since I have similar interests in this topic, I'll see if this can't revive the thread....

I have a 2006 AC with rear door speakers. So there are two tweeters and two 6"x9"s in the front doors, and two 6.5" in the rear doors. Will there still be those tiny speakers over the headliner? I have put my hand up where they could be and couldn't feel any vibrations. If they are there, they could be small enough where vibrations wouldn't be felt.

    No.

Read the links posted above and you'll find that they went upstairs sometime in '09.
