I'd like to find a wire under the kick panel that is only hot when the truck is on accessory (for a relay). I've been hunting around with a test light for an hour. So far no luck, all those wires seem to be always hot. Even the trailer brake pig tail is always hot.

Anyone found a good acc source under the kick panel?

Kick-panel, no, but I haven't really looked there, either. I did find an ignition-switched fuse in the main fuse box, though. (It was a 10amp, top-left corner if looking at the fuse box from the driver's side fender.) Easy enough to run a wire from there through the firewall's existing grommet (did just that).

I might have to do that unless anyone else can find one. In my 2009 I used the cig lighter. But that wire is now always hot under the kick panel. I would have to pull the dash apart and run a wire from there.

I'm thinking about running a wire around from the shift lights in the center console (PRNDS lights). Those are ignition switched. But that's a long way around. I would have thought that empty fuse slot under the dash would be ignition swithed, but no, always powered.

This thread has not been active for a while and it's probably too late for any meaningful input but a good ignition switched source I found is also under the main fuse-relay panel. I used it for my Rigid Radiance light bar. Taking the fused light bar wire that would have gone directly to the battery + terminal I ran it through a 1/8 inch hole I drilled at the rear of the fuse panel (top right corner if standing over the driver's side fender) and T-tapped it to the blue wire shown. It provides a good ignition switched source under the hood for future mods as long as they are fused correctly. I also ran a spare 4 wire cable into the cab when I ran my light bar cabling so it can also be used inside the cab as well.

Thanks for the tip! Just ran a gang switch system on my ‘17 and used your method. Super easy and everything works great!

Bringing this back from the dead, but, if anyone is looking to install a switch pros setup, that blue wire works great as the accessory 12v wire. Thanks waydago!

Hood Struts, My version Fogs always ON, Map & Overhead Light Mod,
If your Tacoma has the DRL activated, then those added LED's would be ON when you tap into the turn signal wire at the lights. Is that the function you seek?

I don't want them on all the time I only want them on when turn on my turn signals. Whatever I did earlier somehow worked because they're on but they're on all the time I did attach the red wire to the blue wire that somebody had posted about on this post at a later date but the LEDs are on all the time unless I turn them off with the remote

So you'll need to turn OFF the DRL feature of the TURN signals so they only function as TURN signals only, since you're going to tap the turn signal wire.
