So while I was parked I had my truck running and the AC on, then all of a sudden I heard a whining sound coming from vent for about 5 seconds, then a really bad burning smell, then nothing but warm air and the AC light blinking. I checked the AC fuse, it was fine, I checked and there's still AC gas in the lines, the clutch turns on when the AC is turned on but only blows warm air, then after about a minute the AC button starts blinking

Ya I saw that thread, was hoping someone could narrow it down for me. But after reading the entire thread, one person had the exact same symptoms as I did, so I narrowed it down to AC Compressor clutch assembly

I'm in the same boat. Just bought this truck too. I believe the fuse/relay is the easiest thing to check but not the most common. I believe that the most common repairs to be either the magnet clutch on the compressor and the A/C compressor pickup sensor. Start with the magnet clutch replacement as that will likely be cheaper. The sensor from toyota is $142 (trust me, I know and it didn't work...). Next "repair" is going to be the magnet clutch assembly.

Ya I'm pretty sure it's my clutch assembly, like I said someone in the thread had the exact same symptoms as I did and it was their clutch

I checked my Compressor and there's rubber sticking out of the clutch, I'm pretty sure that was the burning smell. Thanks for the thread!

Just an update, it was the AC clutch! And funniest thing, I'm getting much better gas mileage ever since it went... Weird 20210708_180221.jpg

Yeah because the clutch is no longer dragging the entire serpentine system from the fact that it is seized.

I'm glad you found the issue. The moment I read your post the first thing that ran through my mind especially when I read the whining/ burning smell my very first thought was, "yep, compressor clutch is messed up."
