My A/C Heat speed control intermittently has stopped working. Sometimes does, sometimes doesn’t.

Looks like I had a small electrical fire. Doesn’t appear I need the whole panel but really just this white snail looking plug piece for the plug. Anyone have a part number for this or one available?

New panel appears to be $500-$800 from Toyota and $150-$250 on eBay

Sorry I have no source for a replacement.

I only wanted to advise that the cause for the damage was due to a loose connection between the plug and the controller. You need to replace the controller the connector plug.

    Damn that got warm..

Junk yard might be your best bet unless someone can come up with a PN for that, but I kind of doubt that is sold separately

If you're cool with a silver one, or you really wanna mess with swapping just that switch, I have the original control from my '11 available, I swapped mine out for a black one.

I'd definitely advise replacing the mating plug as well, and also check (or just replace, especially in the case of the resistor, there's an update kit for it) your connections to your blower motor & resistor. Since Toyota used Delphi parts on 2nd gens, they also got Delphi's mediocre connections, so they melt plugs like a GM. If the blower motor connection (or also resistor connections on lower speeds) starts getting crappy (higher resistance) then the blower motor starts drawing more wattage, and eventually a weak link is found. That weak link should be the fuse, but obviously it's not always...

    All good input….

I don’t really have the tools to do a new connector, tho I did just start getting into DT connectors. I’l probably have to take it somewhere to replace the connector.

I would be interested in buying your part. Really just need the snail I think, and super easy to pop out. Was hoping a new plug and do-electric grease would do the trick.

you’re also saying the motor may be on its last leg and drawing more? Maybe should just pop a new motor in as well. Any lead on the resistor kit? Or is a kit with new plug?

I'm not interested in splitting it up, unless you wanna pay a fair price for the whole thing & just get that piece. But I'll gladly sell the whole thing to you for a fair price & you can do what you like with it. I've been meaning to huck it on ebay, but have been too lazy to actually list it (cuz I have a bunch of other related parts to list) so far.

That would probably work... for now. May last a long while, may fail sooner, may take out the new switch again. If you can find a decent Toyota parts guy, I'm sure it's not the rarest dealer repair & they could find you the pin pigtails & connector body. Then just splice & heatshrink.

Not necessarily the motor itself, although that could & does also cause melty connectors. But the other connections can also suffer increased resistance. Just saying it's possible that the connection you have there was the problem itself... but it's also possible it's a symptom of another problem.

I dunno if they're personalized, but it's in the Amazon 'products discussed' links at the bottom of this page for me. It's a new resistor and new plug, both with a different design from factory. IIRC they're Denso designed rather than Delphi...

Yeah, it was arcing big time. Replace the connectors in the wiring harness.

Not too hard. Wish you luck :)

Don't replace anything!! Mine did exactly same thing and looked exactly same as yours. All I did was took a snap on pic tool. And closed the pin a little more on harness side so connection was tight. And everything works perfectly. And I'm still using burnt ac control and burnt brown wire harness lol

Yeh I already have the new female piece coming and I will push the male pin in better. But….it does appear that it’s the same pin on most of these so must be something definite going on.

I have the new resistor and pigtail kit coming. Also have a new connector to the blower.

will probably just push the pin in more an di-electric grease on the console connection and others of course.

Did changing these parts fix the problem? Because I am having the exact same problem. Blower works intermittently no matter what fan speed setting it is on. It will be working and I turn the engine/ignition off then turn the ignition back to “on” and it doesn’t work. Happens very often. Sometimes if I give the console near the control panel a hit with my hand it comes on. I tried to clean up the male connector on the back of the control panel and the pin in the white plug on the harness side also and it still does this. I was thinking of switching out the entire panel with a used one. Does anyone know which years are interchangeable with a 2008 Tacoma?
