Had my 1995 in the shop for a recharge. They pressurized the system and clutch will not activate. They then put power directly to the compressor and compressor works fine. They said it isn't getting power to the compressor. They would not go into troubleshooting as this is not there type of business. (it does have enough of a charge on system to activate the pressure switch)
Did say fuses and relays were good. The tech mentioned the amplifier. I tried looking this up online for a part number to see if I could try one, like from a local parts store. The number I come up with doesn't pull...8865004010. Assuming he cleaned the connection on the compressor as he had it off to supply direct power to the compressor.
So I did notice that the tach would go up when I mashed the ac button, to rev up the eng a bit.
Other times I do this, I do not see much of an increase. Would it be the amplifier? Seems I read there may be some sort of reostat to adjust to trigger this rmp rev?
Any info would be appreciated. The compressor is only maybe 4 yrs old so with tech saying that is good...i'm confident that isn't the issue. Thx, Greg

Verify the connections before spending money on parts. Diagnose the wiring, the fuses could be fine but if there is a broken wire or loose connection it still isnt going to work.

AC VSV is what idles my 95 up, would assume the signal comes from the 'puter. I broke my vsv case setting my valves if i remember right, caused a vacuum leak and wouldn't idle up.
I don't think the ac clutch would kick in either if i remember right.

I’ll look it over Saturday. Seems like I’ve seen it idle up when I mash the ac switch. Was told they had enough pressure on system when they put power directly to compressor to see that it operated. Wouldn’t know if that alone would tell me that the high/low switch was ok or not. Frustrated that they just didn’t continue to troubleshoot the damn thing. If someone already can tell me
Where and what wires to jump to bypass the pressure switch I would appreciate it that way I’ll already be that much further along in troubleshooting. Thx

I am guessing trouble shooting the AC electrical never having worked on a Tacoma scared them and they ran home to mama.

If electrical is not one of the services they sell it is understandable a customer does not want 4 hours plus labor and the problem has not been found.

If I had the EWD for the 95 Tacoma I would do the step by step trouble shooting Just one wire the wrong color or pins changed around between years can cause problems. Maybe someone has the 95 and can post it.

The fact the High /Low switch being on the EVAP coils is a royal pain.

One wire goes to the AC Power switch the other to the AC Amplifier

The AC amplifier is kinda a dumb name as it is The computer for the AC

I doubt you will find one from Toyota for a 25 year old truck You might get lucky.

They didn't charge me. They do AC services, they just didn't wanna get into this as I don't think they are that skilled. (it's about the same as a jiffy lube...but they also do other mx things) I'll figure it out or get someone that will. Probably something simple. I'm just being proactive. There is a $60 replacement replacement amp for this, online. Will look over the wiring 1st, then start pissing away money on parts....LOL

out of the 96 factory wiring manual. The first year for Tacomas was 95 1/2 so this should be good.

Sorry so long to post back. I have the glove box out. What does this little computer look like? Was going to see if there was input power going into it. I’ll keep looking online. My Haynes book doesn’t mention this item. Thx
