Hey y'all I recently had 5100's installed with 2 inch coils and a 3 leaf AAL since then my traction control and abs light has been on but both are engaged. I hooked it up to a scanner and it read right front wheel speed sensor..no problem I ordered a new one and replaced it this morning. Took a drive down the road hoping it would clear but it did not, so I stopped by AutoZone and had them scan it and it read the same code, right front wheel speed sensor. I'm hoping after driving around 100 miles or so it may clear itself but does anyone have any ideas or has anyone experienced something like this before ?20180302_093118.jpg

Check your ABS fuse? Maybe they blew the fuse on installation of the suspension.

If your ABS system is inop the traction is the byproduct of that. Your traction runs off ABS so you can’t have the 2nd without the 1st.

Edit: your vehicle computer has to go through a drive cycle in order to send a code but idk about the ABS. Might be different. Did you try disconnecting your battery for a few seconds to reset the ECU?

yes, I disconnected the battery and even tried the VSC reset I found a pdl of how to calibrate and wipe the VSC with a scanner so I'm going to go to my friends shop Wednesday make sure the wires are in tact once again even use a volt meter to see if its getting power in case one of the wires stretched and came loose then we are going to try the scanner

This is exactly what I did to solve my issue. Found out via a multi-meter I wasn't getting the correct volts on one side just before the wheel speed sensor so that led me to replacing the wire harness. After removal of the old one I found the stretched wire which caused the issue.

I thought about replacing the whole harness and the sensor but didn't want to spend that much $$$, do you know where I could find a good deal on one?

Correction, I was quoted 250$ at NAPA for the harness and sensor when I typed it in on ebay I found a genuine oem harness for 38 bucks

Have you put a multi-meter on the harness to see if there is a drop in voltage? It's really the best way to determine where there is a break in power. I got my rear harness from a Toyota dealership online. Their price was better than what I found from other parts companies (rockauto.com, etc)

I have a 2WD 2013 SR5 with ToyoTec 2" lift and 285/70R17 tires Tires have been on 2 years and lift about 5 years. For the first time today by stability control and ABS lights came on while backing out of a spot. Shut off truck and restarted and lights were out until I started the truck later today. Shut it off again and same result as of right now. In my experience it's typically a wheel speed sensor but the wiring all looks good and the fact that it stays out after I shit off and restart makes me wonder if it's something else. Any thoughts?

If possible, scan the ABS module for codes. That will determine what’s going on but if you don’t have the ability to do this see below.

Perhaps it’s a short in the wiring harness. Best way to check this will be to use a multi-meter at your wheel speed connector’s. I’d check all 4. Disconnect one side at a time and check voltage with the ignition on. If you see a drop in voltage or no voltage at all you’ve got an issue with the harness itself. With your multi-meter checking voltage, wiggle your harness wire to see if you get a drop in voltage. If you do that would indicate the harness has damage somewhere.

When I pulled mine off after diagnosis I found the harness damaged but couldn’t see it when it was still on the truck.

mine done the same replaced sensors but found it was the wiring harness going to sensors when you do a suspension lift the harness going to sensors are stretched causing wires to break in harness wires are very thin and can not be spliced put new harness on every thing good

Scan the ABS module if you have access to a scanner that is capable of doing so. An ODB2 scan from your local parts store will most likely not be able to scan the ABS module FWIW.

It’s either the wheel speed sensor or wiring harness for the wheel speed sensors. Chances are hitting the curb jolted the sensor enough to damage it. I assume it was the front tire(s) that hit the curb? Check the connector’s first and see if they’re are possibly loose. If they’re not loose and scanning is not an option, try a multimeter on the connector from the wiring harness. If you’re getting lower than 11V’s that is a good indication it’s your wiring harness. Here are a couple of pictures below of one side showing bad voltage and the other good.

Had a similar problem on my '11 TRD OR (though not related to suspension changes). Threw a code for a bad wheel sensor. So, I had it replaced, but it didn't solve the problem. Then we tried a new wiring harness, and wallah! Solved. Wish that I had tried that [~$50 part] before I tried the $350 sensor...but glad the issue went away.

Had the same issue pop up on the way to work today and glad I found this post. I am going to check those wiring harnesses first on the front tires before moving onto anything else.

    Thanks everyone!
