Hey all. Just installed a 1 inch puck lift on my taco. No issues except that the ABS and traction lights are on for some reason. I had installed new coil overs and shocks before and I didn’t have this problem. I looked at other threads and the most common explanation is a pulled wire or damaged sensor. The thing is that I didn’t have to mess with any wires. The only thing I “messed” that is steering related was the steering column spline bolts. All I did was loose them, and then retight.

The abs line gets pulled/caught/snagged accidentally. To know for sure what your code is you'll need somebody with a diagnostic tool that can read ABS codes.

I had a dealer recalibrate my VSC system after 4” lift spindles, that fixed it. Never came on again until I REALLY hucked the truck in AZ.

Hard to say without out scanning the ABS module for the error code its throwing. Hopefully as indicated above, a reset and calibration of the vsc takes care of it for you.

IF the reset doesn't help, get it scanned and let us know the code its throwing. At that point its possible it is the wire harness that has an issue.

So I gave it the ole college try, and I still got the lights on. Everything that the instructions said would happen, did happen, but my lights remain on. I guess next step is to take to dealership. I don’t have a code reader.

That's a bummer. If you have time and want to save a bit of money from a scan by the dealer (assuming they'll charge you to scan it), you can purchase an ODBII scanner, download and install techstream.

Here is the scanner I purchased on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Fangfei-Mini...d=1520267193&sr=1-2&keywords=toyota+obdii+usb

Here is a writeup on how to install techstream 12.00.127: http://blog.obdii365.com/2017/04/07/install-toyota-techstream-12-00-127-on-windows-7/ <<<< this part can be a little tedious but if you take your time and do it right, you'll have a scanning tool for your Tacoma just like the dealer has.

Good luck and hope you figure it out.

OP, a tire shop pulled the code for me when i went in for my alignment post lift.

They told me the code description was something like "no continuity" and it even said driver side.

I took apart the harness, soldered in wore where it pulled apart, hooked it back up in the correct orientation and it fixed it. Below is the thread i made for the same thing. A fellow member helped me out with the orientation of the wires and the sensor so that could be useful for you if you need to fix a harness.

Went to dealer, and it would cost 80 bucks just to diagnose the issue. Went to autozone and the guy plugged in the code reader and said my truck wasn’t giving out any fault codes at all (lights still on).
Since the truck is driving fine, I will take a look at the harness (if I can find it lol) , also the OBD sensor will be coming in, sounds like a neat tool to have. Thanks everyone for the help

The harness connects to the abs sensor down by the wheel. Then it will be connected up above the UCA i believe. It's literally just a black rubber coated line with two wires inside.

ABS codes will likely not be able to be read by your standard code reader.

You likely damaged one of the ABS wires when installing your lift, its rather common.

Also why did you have to mess with the steering column spline bolts.... the only other thing that could cause codes to be thrown is messing with the steering wheel center and subsequently messing with its angle sensor.

To be honest the online reason I loosened the bolts on the steering spline is because the instructions said so. It was a toytec 1 inch body lift.

    I will look at harness

This is one end of the harness in the engine bay below the driver side fuse box, near the front breather.

    OH A BODY LIFT!

You likely tore ABS wires when you lifted the body on the frame.... or airbag sensor wires.... get this checked ASAP!
