Yeah it’s normal but try moving the control knob off the defrost setting and push button so system is on recirculate.

I say that on / off every 10 seconds is NOT normal. I suspect that you are low on freon.

If your fan speed is low enough, then the evaporator will get cold enough to trigger the low temperature cut out (normal). Additionally, recirculate allows the evaporator to get colder easier as its pulling the cooler air from inside the cabin, rather than from outside.

Because there is a temperature sensor on the evaporator that cycles the compressor on and off to keep the evaporator operating in a certain temperature range. When the evaporator gets too cold, the compressor disengages, the evaporator starts to heat back up, and at some higher temperature the compressor clicks back on to recool the evaporator. It does this over and over again.

    Recirculate^

The vents on the dash board for the windshield...can be done by mode or push button. When the ac is on it will cycle on and off when the low temp cut off is met prevents it from freezing up.

ok... so you're saying it's normal?
The only reason I noticed was because the compressor clicking on and off was getting loud. After I turned off the car and turned it back on it went back to normal where I couldn't notice it

Totally normal. It's how the system works.

If you are concerned though, you can always take it in to have Toyota check it out. I doubt there is anything wrong with yours though.

"Defrost" is meant to defrost and defog the windshield, yes. The switch is programmed to turn recirculate off, A/C on, and switch to the windshield vents. It turns A/C on to dehumidify the air blowing on the windshield so that it doesn't fog up.

[IMG] ok...uploaded video... maybe I'm explaining myself wrong. The air compressor was turning off and on every 10 seconds or so but the clicking on and off was getting louder! That's what made me notice it to begin with.... after I turned the truck off and on. The clicking noise went back to normal.( and when I say clicking noise I mean the off-and-on of the AC compressor).... see the video. the clicking got so loud I got concerned.... the noise has gone back to normal after I restarted the truck.
now! When it starts and stops you barely hear it! odd???
