*PLEASE HELP ~ Dome Light to Body ECU Unplugged Under Dash*

How do I reconnect the b + b/w tracer connector (under the dash) back into the body ecu? It's disconnected. My dome light stopped working and I've traced it to an unplugged connector under the dash. Do I need to remove the lower finish panel to get access? I removed the right kick panel and can't access the body ecu.

I've done my best to follow the wiring diagram. Black is positive, black w/white tracer is ground. It goes up the A-Pillar, under the headliner, to the dome light assembly. I see the blue + blue with yellow tracer (L/L+Y) under the dash, coming out of the firewall into the body ecu. The b + b/w is "supposed" to plug into pins 11/12 at the body ecu, but I don't know how to access it.

    Used interchangeably with Integration Module.

OP, remove the four or so bolts holding the module into the truck and you’ll be able to plug it back in by rotating the module forward. You’ll need to remove the lower finish to get to it. Easy job to get done. You’ll need some extensions and maybe wobble joints.

Thanks for the reply. I figured it out. All squared away now. I have no idea how that connector came unplugged. I'm not a mechanic and know less about auto electric, but every shop wanted $50/hr just to trouble shoot the problem. So, I found the wiring diagram online and winged it. My dome light is working as it should. Not bad for a girl. .

The wiring diagram refers to it as the body ECU. It's the junction block that sits behind the interior fuse box. I sure wish the wiring diagram included physical locations and pictures. It's taken me a week to find that stupid little control box.

Here's the page from the in the Tacoma wiring diagram, page 14, that identifies it as the "body ecu."Wiring Diagram 14.jpg

So your working on a 2001 and not the 1997 ??

I wonder if the EWD changed in 2001 I had never seen it called a Body ECU before

I learned something New Thanks !!

It have me a run for the money. I had no idea where to even start looking for a "body. ecu." I was finally able to locate diagram with a location list that placed position 1H behind the rielower finish panel. I disconnected the negative battery terminal, pulled the lower finish panel and the kick panel, removed the fuse box and got lucky Like I said earlier, I have no idea how that plug got disconnected, but all I had to do was plug it back on and it fixed my dome light issue.
