96 Tacoma!!

I need some help valuing this 96 Tacoma. It is for sale in my city and I am super interested in buy it. 118k original miles

 

Lacking so many details.

Immaculate 1996 Toyota Tacoma with low miles! This truck has been garage kept and well taken care of.

- New OEM paint and pinstripes/decals
- Borla Cat-back exhaust
- New spark plugs and cables
- Throttle body spacer
- K&N air filter
- New O2 air sensors
- Truck bed liner w/OEM Toyota rubber mat
- New interior carpet flooring
- Leather seats
- Tinted windows
- President McKinley CB Radio
- Kenwood Radio (OEM radio provided with truck)
- Refinished OEM chrome wheels
- Brand new BFGoodrich KO2 tires
- Truck bed toolbox

 

My first question would be if it was garage kept and was taken such good care of why the need for all new paint and all new interior carpet?If it has a clean title and not a salvage title I think I would pay no more than $7000-$7800,at the end of the day the truck is still 24 years olds

 

It looks like it's gone thru a full restoration, so they're likely asking WAY more than what's considered "normal". If you want a 24 year old truck with perfect paint, you're going to have to PAY for it.

Doesn't really matter what we "think" it's worth. Some people here wouldn't pay $7k for something like this. Others would gladly hand over $15k and their left nut for it.

What is the seller asking, and can you afford it? How bad do you want it? Is this THE truck for you?

What city? Is this an area that salts the roads in the winter?

 

Without seeing a price I can tell you this much. Clean 1st gen tacos sell for a ridiculous amount, if you don't buy it someone else will. All depends on what the truck is worth to you. Nice looking truck for sure!

 

So where exactly can we find that truck for sale?

 

If you want 'value' visit your insurance agent (with all the data) and ask what payout on a total loss would be.

Then swing by your CU and ask what loan would be. (If anything, due to age)

What you pay over those numbers is what you are willing to lose should the worst happen.

Nice looking truck in that one photo, but I too question the 'restoration' on a garage kept 118k example. And regardless, it still should have a full prepurchase mechanical inspection, including compression test, as well as a frame inspection with a ball peen, probe and borescope.

 

She looks like a beauty.......Check out the FRAME....most important inspection to be done.

I agree with the bolded above as my below '96 has 414,000 miles on it (always stored outside) and still has original good paint and carpet. I would also want to verify that it doesn't have any frame rust.
As far as value goes, it depends on how much you want it. Some will pay a pretty penny for the truck you are considering and I don't believe they will have trouble finding a buyer.

Personally, I wouldn't take $15,000 for my '96, but that's just because I'm very attached to it. Not saying it's worth that.

 

Engine size, 4X4?, transmission... etc?

Beauty truck you have at 414K miles....I am hopeful that I can get close to that.

i saw this trucks ad and there IS or WAS a listed wanted price on it

how much of a hurry do they want to git rid of it
there were a fair amount of pics for it too

 

Geico would only insure mine at "book value" ... $5000 ... right that wasn't going to work. Called Hagerty and they will insure it at whatever you want ,value-wise, at a fair price. Of course it is insured only with me as the driver, weekend cruiser at best, no mud-flinging, etc. Never asked if they will insure a every day driver vehicle.

I looked at that truck but then I thought, its waaaaay to pretty for what I'd be doing with it, and costs too much money.

they still have a '96 ~ 50 miles from me, been on the lot for almost 3 months

 

I'm too tall for a single cab lol and I love having the extra dry storage right behind me

 

i understand, the single cabs are not friendly to giants!

 

Where is this single cab 96 model/dealer lot ?? Not the one thats "reworked", I am in NorthEast Texas. Thanks.
