    Howdy TW,
I stopped for a cheeseburger and was parked next to a tradesman's Dodge... I know that trucks have gotten bigger over the years but I hadn't seen such an obvious comparison. And the dodge was just a stock model, so it's small compared to all the lifted and tricked out modern "full" sized American trucks that are everywhere out here. I stared at this the whole time I ate! It almost looks like you can fit our truck in the bed of these new monstrosities... just made me love my truck even more haha. Anyway, thought you all might appreciate this pic or have some comparisons of your own.

The new Tacomas are even too big IMO. One thing that appeals to me the most about my 1st gen. The size of it.

I bought my Tacoma new in February 2004 because I read that the next year's version was going to be bigger. I'm still glad I did!

If I recall correctly, new Tacomas are about the same size as 90's F150, which is a full size truck. No new compact trucks left in U.S.. I specifically got my 1st gen for the size, but I would have loved to buy a brand new one.

Absolutely trucks have gotten larger over the years. Here's a picture of my buddy's super duties: 99 F350 4WD next to a 2018 F250 4WD. Both are bone stock.

You’re forgetting the Maverick and Santa Fe. They do 99% of what mid size owners require of a truck (myself included).

I thought those were cars, with an open luggage compartment.

    Here’s another example.

Those two red Super Duty Fords really drives the point home.

We have a full sized ‘09 E250 for hauling and towing, which is also dwarfed by new CA3CD576-1EEC-4D52-843A-3E89FE923F30.jpg full sized pickups.

I just can’t see a vehicle that big as a daily driver unless you really have a need for it.

I noticed that just yesterday in a parking lot. Side by side there was a late model Tacoma 4wd and an older Ford F150 2wd. The length and width of both trucks was similar and the Toyota was taller.

That photo is impressive. I have tried to capture the size difference of my 02 Tacoma next to current generation full size trucks and it has never looked that extreme. My other truck is a crew cab Super Duty, but I end up with more miles per year on the Tacoma still.
