    hey guys,

I want to get a few whips in on this dead horse so bear with me...

Truck in question is 2008 2.7 base ac 4x4 and I’m looking for 2.5” of lift.

If I go with 5100’s up front I’d like to know if I should go with 884’s or 885’s- I don’t want a cement truck and I don’t want the 884’s to settle under 2” and feel mushy.

If I go with the 6112’s, should I be looking at 14” 600lb springs?

I’m ok with a slightly stiffer ride, just don’t want to loose articulation. Any insite would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve got money burning a hole in my pocket and a bunch of cool things ready to go on once I have the clearance so help me out!

Well, I had about 2” with 884’s WITH an ARB bumper and skids. Just replaced them with 885’s cuz I’ll be putting 34’s on soon. However I can’t really say how much lift i have yet because I’m still waiting on diffs and spindles to be built before I can put her on the ground again.

That said, if you want some cheap 884’s I got some

Oh and they will settle some but in my experience not much, I think I went from 2.5” to 2”, I wish I could remember my measurements

I have nothing up front and no plans of adding weight so I might be good with the 884’s, I’d take you up on those 884’s but that’s the only thing I don’t want to assemble. How was the ride, any excessive body roll?

If you keep your sway bar there wouldn’t be anymore body roll than stock I wouldn’t think, no matter what OME coils are much stiffer than stock. Honestly if you are confident enough to remove the coilover assembly a shop would probably charge like $40 for the swap. I don’t have a clue what they’d charge to do the whole job. ‘Tis the season, so if you pay shipping I’ll send em your way

I ran the 884's on my Reg cab taco 4x4, it had a heavy'ish custom bumper up front. I would not go with 885's after my experience, if you want that extra 1/2 inch of ride height add the 1/4 inch top plate spacers outside of the coil over. This way you have at least a little down travel left. After having done it I hated the ride with the full OME front stuff, constant banging and topping out of the shocks up front. 5100's might be a little better, but i am only saying that because i couldn't image they would be worse

I really wanted the lift to be all suspension , not a fan of using spacers...I will if it’s the best all around combo though.

The small top plate spacers are perfectly fine to use, many many ppl do. It is not the same overall effect as using spacers for 2-3 inches of lift.

The concept in described is simple, give it some thought and look around for info where ppl running full suspension lifts add the small top plate spacers as needed!

So 884’s and a 1/2” spacer may be the ticket.

Bought pulled the trigger on 884’s and a set of 1/4” spacers, I figure I can buy another set of 1/4” spacers and stack them if I ever get too much sag.

    Pairing all of this with:
    JBA uca’s
    265/75/16 Duratrac’s
SCS f5 3.5bs gun metal wheels.

Everything is either here or on its way,
I’ll post pics of the finished product in a week or two. Thanks for the help.

I have the 885's and I think I'm getting the full 3" of lift, but they are a bit stiff. The 884's sound like the right ones for what you're looking to do.

You will, and get a better ride! I suggest a new shock for the rear also with the block. It will firm up the ride to better match the new front setup. If you don’t want to spend a lot on rear shocks I suggest sky jacker H7045’s. I paired them with Dakars on my reg cab and was pleased. A bonus is they’re longer also so you get a bit more downtravel off road.

Do you have a 2.7 as well? Wondering what springs to pair it with. I can’t get the 6112’s out of my head!
