Yes you read that correctly. For some of y'all this will be boring. Those interested will get a kick out of the story.

    My build for reference:
    2018 Cement TRD Off-Road
    -King 2.5s
    -Icon DJ UCAs
    -Icon RXT Leafs
-C4 Fab Hybrid Front and Sliders
-C4 Fab Oversized Tire Fitment Kit
    -C4 Fab Body-Mount Relocate
    -ECGS 5.29s
    -Rolling on 35x12.5 BFG KO2s
    -Other various non-performance knick-knacks

On 01MAY2023, I got in an accident with another vehicle. The back-left of my truck was hit by the other vehicle, which was traveling around 40mph. My truck was rendered inoperable. Post-accident pictures shown below.

The tow truck came shortly after the accident to pick up my truck. Today (03JAN2024) is the first time I have seen my truck since the accident.

My insurance (State Farm) agreed that I am not liable for the accident, and covered the replacement of all damaged aftermarket components. Full repair bill attached below. I used Caliber Collision due to their partnership with State Farm, and it's the only reputable shop in my area with good warranties. I did not know the extent of the damage when I selected the shop. Caliber Collision outsourced a lot of the work to another shop.

State Farm WOULD NOT total the truck. I asked about it, they denied. They also denied my agent who asked. I own this truck outright.

They only paid for a rental for 1 month per my policy. I had to buy another car......

The initial completion date was set for late July 2023. The impact bent the frame, so a new frame had to be ordered from Toyota. Frames are build-to-order, and on a 3 month backorder, so this took over 4 months to get a frame. Now we're in August. The shop has received the frame and is starting to receive other parts, like the new ECGS rear diff. Work will start when more parts show up.

September 2023. work begins. Work takes roughly 3.5 months to complete. 28DEC2023, work is complete. 03JAN2024, I pick up truck.

In summary, they spent 8 months and $32000:

    -Replaced the frame
    -Replaced C4 fitment kit
    -Replaced C4 cab-mount relocate
    -Replaced rear axle
    -Replaced ECGS rear diff
    -Replaced both RXT leaf packs
    -Replaced rear-left tire/wheel
    -Did various body work/panel replacements

If anyone has advice regarding getting the repairs audited by another shop, or my rights to fix faulty repairs, please let me know. Looking into a diminished value claim perhaps. Not sure what my options are here.

If it wasn't your fault, the at fault party should have covered the rental.

7 months is quick. My frame took like 9 or 10.

Hopefully everything works as it should for many years to come

The other party's insurance says it was my fault. I guess they'll take it up in court.

I decided to buy another car anyways because I'm not certain the truck will ever be in proper working order again.

I am thinking this but don't know if I could get a good price per the damage and all of the permanent mods.

    ugh that sucks!
Good thing you have your house in order though! With good insurance, a paid off truck, finances to purchase another vehicle during this down time, etc, it sounds like this was nothing but a minor inconvenience to you.
I hope others take note, there are some (if not many more) that have 6-7 year loans, and are putting LED lights on their credit cards to get their Insta posts, with no means to get to work the next day should the next unlicensed, uninsured motorist, come wipe them out.

Fortunately the biggest inconvenience was not having a truck that I spent so much time and effort building. Missed a whole season of camping and wheeling with the crew

sorry, I was not trying to speak for you, or minimize your loss,,, that was wrong of me.
I was thinking of this in terms of; you had the resources to go out and buy another vehicle and didn't miss work, kids school, and other life things,,, like so many would, had this happened to them.

Sorry man what a shyt situation. a $32k repair + value of the truck seems to me more than justifies a total loss.
What happened to your title if you don't mind me asking....? Rebuilt?
If it were me Id list it for sale for a price I'd be happy with and if no one bites that's fine have a sweet rig on the side either way.

Haha no you're good. I'm in 100% agreement with you. I'm blessed to be able to continue on with life as normal despite the loss of the truck.

If you want more options than what your insurance is offering, consult an attorney.

Everything you will read on here is speculation that you are owed a candy bar and a puppy.

Damn dude, thats shitty. Its wild how long stuff is taking now a days. Seems like you kept good records of everything added to the truck which made it easy to get all the aftermarket stuff covered?

I totally understand the feeling, but what makes you think the repairs weren't done right?

Get ahold of Collision Safety Consultants about a diminished value claim. I haven’t dealt with them personally but they do great work from what I’ve seen. Hell, they probably could have gotten it totaled for you.

I would file a diminished value claim, which it appears you have a case for and then sell the truck for what you think you would be satisfied with (if it was not wrecked and repaired) less the amount you receive in diminished value. This is because I don’t think the truck will ever be the same. But that’s just me.

So you got new frame, new rear axle, new rear suspension, new wheel, new body panels... what's faulty? Do you have any electrical malfunctions? Any paint mismatch?

One of a few reasons I would never use State Farm. A $32k repair on a '18 is Absurd and it should have been totaled.
