I've been googling this forever and can't find a legitimate answer. I found a set of American Racing wheels for my truck, but the center bore is 78mm for a chevy. What size and what style spacers would i need to make these work?

Well toyota has a 106mm center bore. So you'd have to have them opened up.

I'm wondering if there's a spacer I can buy to bypass the hub on my truck, so they fit on that

so in this case the only option would be machine them, but i doubt theirs an inch of material to take off and have it still be safe to ride on.

Well that spacer would have to fit over your hub bore, and then become a 78mm bored 6 lug. i know they make lug conversion spacers but this just sounds hack jobby to me.

Right, the new wheels are lug centric so I was hoping to find something that would work to get em on. Got a killer deal on a set of wheels and tires. I've seen posts saying people run Chevy wheels on their tacoma, but no actual info behind it

That would be that they have bought 6 lug LUG CENTRIC wheel spacers. They will fit over the tacoma hub kinda unsafely, then give you a new flat mounting surface that will fit any bore because there's no hub. Hub centric are preferred because it takes pressure off the wheel studs and transfers it to the hub as well as keeping it centered on the vehicle.

Then you have the issue of lug nuts to think about, so you'd have to have Chevy studs/lug nuts on this proposed spacer/adapter.

It would have to fit completely over your hub bore, then reduce down over the flange and have a 78.1mm lip for the chevy wheel to center on. I don't know how thick it would have to be. I am not in front of my truck. But there is probably a reason somebody doesn't already make one.

they have the same bolt pattern so they can definitely be machined to work. It just seems like a lot of work to me.

Same bolt pattern, sure it can be machined to work with effort but why fuck with that stuff, you are just jeopardizing your safety and others all because you wanted some american racing wheels from a chevy.

I'm right there with you, he asked. It could be done relatively safely, but AR wheels really aren't that expensive anyway so I think the benefits do not outweigh the effort in this case.

I totally get it, I'm not trying to jeopardize safety for anyone. I've got a year and a half old son I drive around daily. They're just new wheels and brandy new tires for 200. Just hoped there was an easy way to make it work. Sick of the hub caps I have on it, and don't have too much excess cash to spend

Then take off the tires for now. Look up the price of the wheels new (assuming they are in OK shape) and resell them. you will get more than 200 for the wheels alone, dunno how much exactly. But atleast then you can add it to the new wheels fund.

That's the plan, just didn't want to have to do that. No biggie, into bigger and better
