    Hey guys

I just hit the 70,000 miles mark (70,857 to be exact) on my 2018 DCSB TRDOR.

I’m looking to go in for a routine service (oil change, tire rotation, fluid checks) and I am seeing a recommended “Engine Tune Up” service for $350. The description hardly says anything noteworthy about what they actually do:

I’d like to get my plugs changed and anything else that I should do at this mileage milestone.

    Questions:

Has anyone gone through with a similar Tune Up through their dealer?
Do you happen to know what was included?
Is there anything I should make them aware of or ask about that would be wise to get inspected or replaced?

I know a lot of you guys are self-maintenance types, which I totally envy, however, I am not.

They also recommend a “4x4 Service” for $190 which I’m thinking about going with too, although I have rarely, as in like twice, even used 4HI and never 4LO.. more of a piece of mind thing I suppose.

I suppose one final question I would have is if I should go with the 75K routine maintenance as well for another $100. The difference in the 70k and 75k seems pretty substantial for the same price. The 75k includes far more inspections, level checks, and torque checks.

Appreciate any and all replies. Thanks all!

I would stick with the recommendation chart in the owner's manual, a lot of the dealer packages are fluff. Also in the manual, is recommended engaging 4wd more often ;)

Pay them for what's recommended in the manual, and say a little prayer they actually do it..

Be prepared for big money. I believe they're charging over 1k for a plug Job.

It's really not hard to do yourself though. Passengers side takes like 30mins. Driver's side can take quite a bit longer though. Dealers think the intake plenum needs to be pulled for driver's side, hence the cost.

Uh diy?.. 1k for spark plugs is retarded. Less than $100 in plugs and ten minutes of work. Haven't looked at location, only at 19k miles, can't imagine it's difficult.

Gotcha, I've only got 15k on mine, but I'll look in to it, my buddies are techs, I'll start saving for OEM plugs and beer:D

It's not 10mins. It's closer to 3 hours if you're not mechanically inclined. I was into it two hours or so and I'm fairly on the ball with that stuff.

The whole intake plenum. It's not hard necessarily, just time consuming. It's tight in there. Couple of brackets need to be moved, undoing clips etc.

Went in to the dealership earlier to just to talk and clarify what exactly the engine tune up involved. Was basically told “all it means is a plug replacement”

Set up my appointment for next week. Might add the 75k “check up” as well, just for piece of mind.

Estimate came out to $347.17 for the tune up. Also have a 10% service coupon, so, not too bad.

Thanks for the replies guys. Will update if anything dealership f*ckiness occurs. :playball:
