That must be reason why big 3 has 4cyl turbos in their super duty truck hauling ass .

Man, I wish i had a 10 $ for each person who gets mad when someoen talks down their lawnmower 4cyl.

You know what they say, anger is fear. You dont see people getting angry over someoen talking down their V6 because they know they are being lied to :)

But the truth of 4cyl hurts

I think it's more that you're just spouting garbage with no facts to support it. Pretty troll behavior.

Lol, there's a reason why people say the 2grfks/old 4.0 has the power of a 4cyl with the fuel economy of a v8.

Not sure what exactly your last sentence about "being lied to" means.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Where would you suggest the thread be located?

Because although it is a Tacoma forum, it's full of Toyota enthusiasts. And seeing as the 4 Runner is, and always will be, very closely related to the Tacoma, and this is the first major re-design in 15 years... it's going to be a subject somewhere.

So... again... where do you suggest?

    Thoughts on the 6G

    1. It's an SUV

    2. Pro and Trail look better than other trims

    3. The rear window mimicking the 84 4R is cool.

    4. Made in Japan +1

    5. 95% of 6Gs sold will be to women for commuting to work, like 95% of most vehicles.

I mean, do i have to really teach people common sense? Just because someone likes something else doesn't means person is an idiot. One who chases after them and starts arguing is the idiot.

If you don't agree with someone either state what you think or just move on instead of getting all mad and angry.

I am not one going around replying to people calling them trolls and telling them i am right. I am saying V6 is more powerful than 4cyl, the end.

Whether its true or not its other topic but you can't control what people like lol. You guys are ridiculous.

Well the thread topic isn't all that interesting but OP is a riot. Still an overall win I think.

I hear you on the internet mostly being a pretty gross place. I think, at least for some, simple Toyotas were a final refuge, a last holdout, of old school simple basic even “outdated” machinery. So while every other company upgraded to newer ways the last few simple trucks that some prefer (totally okay that most others do not) were often all we had left to choose from. As models like the Tacoma, Tundra, and now 4Runner get more and more modern there’s a sliver of us who are losing potential vehicles we could buy the way we enjoy them.

I’m happy for folks getting cool new things they like. I for one don’t know what I will buy after the 2015 Taco, 2017 Tundra, and 2019 4Runners (and a few other similar vehicles that held out on simple engines, transmissions, and systems for a little while longer than the rest) are all gone even from the used market. Guess I’ll have to move to where my motorcycles can be ridden year ‘round by then ha.

Considering what 4th gen Tacoma costs, I am assuming this 4runner is going over 60K. I like 5th gen look more, this looks way too wide for mods, i am not sure if there is any actual size difference from before or its just looks that seem wide.

Let me pre-face this for the morons that will misconstrue my post as being mad about something, since that is partially what the last few posts have eluded to. Seems as though people with opinions are somehow mad, while others have their opinions and they aren't mad, somehow.

I think the 6th Gen 4 Runner is a bit of a miss. That is, for people who are actually looking to wheel it, and get the most out of it. First of all, I immediately think of a Rav4 when I'm looking at the profile. lol

    1712715528567.png

From a wheeling perspective, it's a few steps back. According to Car and Driver specs. The new 4 Runner loses ground clearance, approach angle, AND departure angle. Yes, you can fix these when the high clearance bumpers come out. But the starting point is more of a challenge off the bat. The departure angle could be an issue. If the new 4 Runner is anything like the new Tacoma, it has a hitch that is welded and integrated in to the frame. This will make a high clear bumper more difficult, and probably much more expensive than the already expensive high clear rear bumpers for the older models.

A bumper and swing out spare carrier will also be necessary for those who want to use the 4 Runner to the fullest seeing as the spare tire is slung so low it's, literally, slung lower than the hub of the rear wheel.

The square and cramped wheel wells will also pose a problem. To clear 35s, for example, you MUST adjust your caster forward to get the tire off the back of the wheel well. There is no room for that, there doesn't appear to be any room behind the wheel either. Seems that there is going to be a LOT of cutting involved in fitting larger tires. I would say, from the look of it, you'll be cutting to properly fit even a 33... And don't even get me started on these hideous gloss fender flares.

(I know there are influencers that are already saying you "can fit 35s with minimal cutting." First of all, at this point, these influencers are going to say what ever Toyota wants them to say. That's why they have first access to these. They get lots of clicks and subscribes from being able to post about new products. Let's take some of what they say for what it is. And let's also be honest with ourselves, the vast majority of influencers are idiots, and don't really know what they are talking about to begin with. And lastly... "minimal cutting" is a very subjective phrase.)

With all that being said. The 4cyl Hybrid is interesting to me. I'm definitely interested in it as a daily driver, family wagon. But actual wheeling is best left to something without all the stupid fancy elecrto bullshit and plastic bumpers.
