So you decided to go with the 6112s I see. On the lower perches the ride is amazing btw. With minimal preload the digressive shocks really shine.

Yeah I was always going to do the 6112s, just wasnt sure if I should go for a bigger spring and lower on the shock setting. But for now the ride is a ton better than my 5100s and eibach performance coils. That were crooked... probably wasnt helping anything.

I've considered jumping to the 700lb springs myself. I prefer the no front sway bar as there is less jarring when hitting large bumps and freer travel off road. I had 3rd gen TRD OR suspension on my truck before the 6112's. 3rd gens use 700lb springs from the factory are rode great! Now with the 600lb spring that comes with the 6112's it just feels way under sprung.

I don't have any extra weight (steel bumper, fancy skid plates etc) up front. Yet. I would prefer having a longer spring and lower shock setting, that seems to be the magic formula. But for now the 6112 with 600# spring seems to be going great, feels much better. My old coils appear to have been bent, probably my shitty spring compressor tool install fuckup on my part. I thought when I ordered from headstrong I was talking to the original much more knowledgable crew when I was asking questions, kind of bummed that I wasn't. But I will ride with it as is and see how I like it, got a good road trip coming up so that should be a good test.

And my anti sway bar is sitting in the bushes next to my garage, right on top of the toyota stock leaf springs. Road test time!

No-spring-compressor-method FTW. Much simpler and safer IMO, if you’re on the ground.

I was about to ask what that was, thought about it for a minute and I think I get it. Place shock in coil, bolts to lca and just Jack up the lca until it’s in range to thread the top bolt and bushings? I am guessing.

You got it. Even at 75% preload the top bolt was super easy to thread on, once the LCA was jacked up. In the course of a few hours you could easily try a couple c-clip positions.

the only tip is you have to loosen the cam bolts a bit so your LCA swings freely. And mark your alignment positions so you’ll know if you bumped your alignment or not.

I'm just bummed as my original plan was to resell the eibach coils, since they're crooked now I'm not sure anyone would want them.

TRD Pro shocks for 3rd gens is Fox and TRD Off Road are Bilstein that are no where near similar to 6112's, they are a 4600 series Bilstein, see picture below. 2nd gen had Pro or Baja Bilstein shocks options. Pro's were Progressive valving 600# springs (gets stiffer as piston speed increases) and Baja's were Digressive valving and 650# springs (gets softer as piston speed increases) which are similar to how 6112's are valved. But not the same. I haven't found any hard numbers but I know the valving is different between the Baja 6112's and standard 6112's.

    TRD OR vs 6112.jpg

I'm curious how this goes. This thread goes over the 700# options and people who have ran them. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bilstein-6112s-with-700lb-springs.596857/

Even though I don't have any additional armor (will be getting sliders built soon) I still have Taco lean with 600# springs and clip settings at 5/4 which is why I am considering 700# springs.

On my 15 DCLB I can tell it's under sprung with 600# coils. I have my sway bar removed and no additional armor, though I do have an AGM battery which is heavier than the stock one. I notice quite a bit of dive in turns and still have the old taco lean with 5/4 settings. When I had my 3rd gen TRD Off Road shocks/springs it rode great and didn't have as much dive like the 6112's. The 3rd Gen TRD OR springs are 700#. As mentioned above, the 2nd gen Baja springs were 650# springs. Toyota must have done that for a reason to possibly avoid more dive since the Baja 6112's were digressive valving, like the after market 6112's.

I am considering the 8112 700#(pn 53291394) springs on my setup since it won't likely be too stiff. Remember, the springs job is only to support and the shocks job is only to dampen. Knowing that I expect a stiffer ride, but it shouldn't be harsh and it should dive quite a bit less. Considering high end coilovers for my MR2 (2450lbs) have very good damping (not megan or tein), they still ride nice and preform well on auto-x/track with around 400lb front and 550lb rear springs. Comparatively a 700# spring isn't much on a truck that is more than twice the weight and has the engine in the front means it isn't that crazy for a 700# spring to be used.

It’s going great they feel really nice and will support the bumper and winch when the bumper arrives.

Guess I’m going backwards. I have 650lbs coils on now and going to install 600lbs. I’m all stock, so weight isn’t a issue. The truck is ok off road, but want it a little smoother.
Just curious if I’ll notice a difference between the 600 and 650

Would you post an update after install and review. I’m on the same boat right now. And maybe link on coil. I have full steel bumper with winch. Thanks

600lb springs you will notice a difference. They will definitely soften up in time IMO

I'll check this afternoon and post up.
    I'm curious too.
I've flexed it up on a couple trips while carrying a full camping load.
