For those that have assembled 6112's at home, what spring compressor did you use?

Tried with this Chinese one. Bent/broke it the first time doing 6112's.

Now I have a Branick wall mounted spring compressor. Handles anything I throw at it, including several 6112 builds.

So yeah... I can't really grab a Branick. Lol.
Guess I'll have to try the Chinese route or find someone with that one.

The very first time I did it with Autozone rental spring compressors. Problem is, the 6112 is so fat, the tool was scratching and riding against the shock body. After assembly the tool was stuck between the shock body and coil, had to hammer it out. I'd pay someone to assemble them before doing that again.

I tried the same tool. Ended up being way easier to just use the weight of the truck to compress them.

+1 for using the weight of the truck if you can, I had to take my 6112s off my truck and to a local shop for adjustment because they wouldn’t compress with just the weight of the truck with how high the clips were set.

I have used both the ones you linked and the OG "50% chance of death" coil compressors you buy at Canadian Tire or Harbour Freight. These ones are drastically better! They are way stronger and compress much more easily. I never once feared for my safety.

For my fellow Canadians, Princess Auto sells this style of compressor for $180.

I ran into the same issue yesterday when trying to install my 6112s. The truck started lifting off the jack stand before I could get any threads to get the top nut on. What clip settings were you using?

They were on the 6th clip at that time. The ride was way too harsh and there was an awful clunk going over any sort of bump. I now have them set to 4th clip on driver side, and the 3rd clip on the passenger side.
