I just ran across a guy on FB that had a photo of his ECO graph in his '16 Tacoma,...the thing is averaging near 30mpg...across the entire graph. Of course, HE can't figure out why everyone else is getting 15-17mpg average. So, I tell him that at 70mph in 6th gear,...holding it steady on the highway,...I am at 1800rpm. Anything less, it quickly slows down. HE claims that's WAY too high, because he is at around 1100rpm.

Either I am pulling an invisible parachute, there is something wrong with my truck, or he is full of $#!^.

You don't say what model he has. Either way, he's not at 1100 rpn at 70mph. Seems like this is a case of two guys who don't know WTF they are talking about.

mine is 1500RPM at 60MPH in drive. if you have the ETC on might be different, don't think mine ever goes into 6th with the ETC on.

Only 30mpg? Probably should have gotten the manual:

Seriously though, the small sample of the Eco screen or a single trip can be incredibly misleading. I refuse to believe anyone's fantastic economy claims without a large and verifiable sample open for review. Random guy on Facebook either doesn't know what he's talking about or is intentionally misleading you.

I saw his posts too. He only traveled 18.1 miles from a full tank in the picture that he posted. Any vehicle will show really good mileage after such a short distance. There is no way he's at 1100 rpm at 70 either.

The 2016 V6 automatic is 95 mph at around 2500 RPM. I'm wondering without a speed limiter what the top speed be?

    I had a 2015 2.7L 4x4, 75mph at 2600 RPM.

Mine can be around 1800 RPM, but tends to be more like 2100 since it doesn't like to hold 6th. Or over 3000 if cruise is on, lol. But doing it by foot without wind and going flat, 1800 ish in 6th.

As for the speed limiter. It seems to be the same as my old Tundra, so 110 MPH and it'll cut off. Don't ask how I know.

I could be wrong but correct me if I am. If you are 95 mph at 2500 RPM, then at 5000 RPM, would you be at 190 mph?

This is just a curiosity, I understand realistically you need speed rated tires, right road conditions, and disable the speed limiter. I doubt it has enough power to redline in 6th gear. I wouldn't try but I think it can do 140-150mph. Not that you would...but you could.

1800 rpm at 70 mph with flat road or downhill, and no winds coming at me (22 mpg). If slight uphill, driving into a wind, then 2100 rpms (without downshifting into 5th gear), then 18 mpg.

Yeah I get great gas mpg until I hit a slight hill or even step on it a little.

There are websites online that allow you to enter data to arrive at your rpm for a given speed. For example, I have an Off-Road with a manual and stock 265/70R16 tires.

    Final gear ratio = 4.30:1
    6th gear ratio = 0.713:1
    Tire diameter = 30.5”

At 65 mph the engine will turn at 2251 rpm. If I were to change tires to a taller 265/75R16 with a diameter of 31.6”, at 65 mph the engine would be turning at 2172 rpm. A difference of 79 rpm.
