Hey everyone. Anyone here install this 6" lift kit? Simple enough to do on jack stands over a weekend or should I do it at work using my hoist? Or find a shop to do it for me while I'm at work? Page says 6-8 hours install cant leave truck on my hoist overnight since i need it to work on customers cars the next day. Ill be ordering it shortly. Currently have a 2.5" inch lift fabtech coil overs in the front + 2" body spacers which i might remove since I'm getting a 6" lift and 2" body on top of that will be overkill for my wife who is 4'11".https://www.roughcountry.com/toyota-suspension-lift-kit-74130.html

I have a daily and my current shocks are leaking. Its $1500 for the shocks i have or like $400 to reseal+ shipping from WA to Los Angels. This 6" will cost me slightly more than a reseal but will also provide me with a skid plate(which i been needing). New shocks. A brake line extension(also been needing due to it stretching when full extended) and well more clearance.

Tacomaworld isn’t very supportive of bracket lifts in general...

I easily fit 33 skinnies with 1/3 of that height on my 99. Your wife will be extra thankful..

I understand the suspension sits lower but doesn't the frame driveshaft and exhaust sit any higher in the middle of the truck?

I have 33s right now. 12.5 in width and they don't rub.

@albert7991 let's go back a little bit; what exactly do you wish to accomplish and how much do you really have to spend?

Get new shocks skid plate and brake line extensions are the priorities even of i stay at the 4.5" I'm at right now (2.5" suspension 2" body). Thought getting the 6" would help clear some obstacles that you'd high center on in the middle of the frame? And don't really have too much to spend on mods trying to keep <1k for the coil overs or kit. .....so say if i dont get the 6" lift would you guys recomend resealing the fabtech coil overs i have or getting new ones? Fabtech doesn't sell my particular once anymore but equivalent they said would be $1500. Or they referenced a shop that reseal them in LA (im in Vancouver WA) which would be about $400+shipping coil overs there and back

Look a little harder for someone who can rebuild them, I still think you would be happier off sourcing a skid and brake line extensions separately.

Yes, you will be higher in the center, but you then think of this, you are going to have to run blocks in the back further limiting articulation, the front will remain the same as the rear ground clearance wise.

you are going to change driveline angles and have to deal with worn carrier bearing and possible vibration from unfavorable pinion/driveline angles.

in my opinion of things if you cant have the coilovers rebuilt, a strut setup from @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc could get you set up.

Ok but the second question was, how much can you spend?

Bilstein 5100's are an affordable alternative to obtaining a lift as well as gaining better on and off-road manners than stock (since you keep mentioning clearance, etc).

You can get away without extending your front brake lines since you won't articulate much; the rear only consists of a single brake line and will cost you less than $40 bucks.

Not to mention, you would be able to do it yourself easily the same day.

I just replaced my rear shocks within 15 minutes earlier this morning.

Lets say $1k-$1.5k and just checked the bilstein 5100s they are shocks. Whats leaking are my 2.5" lift coil overs in the front. Yea i know labor itself is easy for stuff like this. I do similar for a living (Mercedes Benz Tech) just not too knowledgeable in the offroad lift area.

This is my current setup. I have it on jacks because I'm taking off the lower control arms to press out the old bushings and press in new ones.20190529_222356.jpg 20190529_222414.jpg 20190529_222458.jpg

    Definitely leaking :annoyed:

If you have that to spend, why not dump the spacer/block lift and just go with an Old Man Emu Suspension Lift? Not going to get you to 6" by a long shot in fact it'll be somewhere around 2.5 - 3" but honestly, with that 6" you're going to have more problems than you think.

At 2.5-3" are trucks are really at their best. http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/toyo...mu-suspension-lift-kit-heavy-ometac04hks.html

As for install, there is a enough documentation here on TacomaWorld and YouTube that just about anyone could do it. You're a mercedes tech, you should have no issue with it. coilovers and leaf springs...

If sticking with the Rough Country thing, all I can say is good luck (I know nothing about Rough Country - sorry).

    https://www.bilsteinlifts.com/shop/...ble-front-shocks-for-1995-2004-toyota-tacoma/

Im looking at these right now. If it comes as a kit my rear shocks can use replacing. The $1k-$1.5k was if im changing my lift and such which is obviously not worth it as per everyones comments on the bucket list. Would be nice to just R&R for $500. Ill have to check to make sure i can reuse the fabtech spring on the 1500 shock.
