I know that 15" wheels won't fit on a 6 lug 2nd gen Tacoma because they hit the caliper.... but what if you run 1.25" wheel spacers as well?

    Has anyone done this successfully?

If the caliper is still inside the wheel, it will not clear. 1.25" spacers are not going to move the caliper outside the wheel (nor would you want to). Unfortunately 16" is the minimum wheel size. It would be awesome to be able to run 15" wheels and have more tire options.

If you want more tire options, look at 17" wheels. I have 15's on my FJ40 and the tire choices have been shrinking for several years. Maybe not so much in smaller sizes, but for 35's and such it seems they are all going to 17" and larger wheels. Having the same issue with my Pro, love the wheels, but the tire choices are limited unless you want D or E rated LT tires. Can't find many LT C rated tires either.

About the only C-rated tire I could find that I would consider running on a 16" was Duratrac. I wanted an aggressive AT at the least, or a well road mannered MT in C-load. I've run Duratracs before and was not particularly impressed with their street performance, and where I wheel has sharp volcanic rock so I was concerned about the sidewalls.

TRD Pro put D-load BFG KOs on the Pro, but I'm not a huge fan of those either. I was going to try the KO2s, but they don't come in the D load like the KOs, only come in E-load for the 16" size. Choosing a tire should not be that hard. I ended up going with 17" wheels and C-load KO2s.
