Keep in mind the ACLB and DCSB are same wheelbase and overall length.

I had a 2018 double cab short bed and thought it was about perfect except for the bed length. If you own a home and need to haul anything you will benefit from the 6 ft bed. I recently purchased a 2020 double cab long bed and like it much better. I don't know about where you live but long bed Tacomas are hard to find here.

So this is not proven, but I have noticed it while talking to long bed vs short bed owners when it comes to suspension.

The long bed bounces around on the highway more than the short bed, this was most apparent with the stock trd offroad suspension to all the people I have talked to. After I switched to trd pro suspension, the bounce went away.

Yes, that's major, depending on how you use the truck 90% of the time.

Does your sled fit between the wheel wells? I have a 5 foot box and trail sled with a 129 track. I'm not worried about the overall length of the bed more about the sketchiness of going over the wheel wells with the skis.

Did it fine with my F150 but haven't had to do yet with Taco and little nervous. May just use the trailer all the time which is a pain in the ass.

If you want a short bed you might as well get a 4Runner. The 5ft bed on the tacoma is less of a truck bed and more like an open cargo space. If you want a truck- get a truck. If crawling over rocks means more to you than utility then get a short bed.

Never been in a position where I wished I had more bed space. Including when I had an S10 with a 4.5' bed. I moved a whole household with that, sometimes one piece at a time.

First thing I did with my first Tacoma was move a fridge. Can't do that with a 4Runner, ignorant statements notwithstanding.

Get the short box. An extra foot of storage is a non issue unless you're adamant on sleeping in the bed but that extra foot on a tight trail is the difference between denting your bedsides or making it through unscathed. If you have kids too, you're not all going to sleep in the bed as well. I have never once regretted getting a shortbed.

I have an '05 DCLB (well my kiddo has it now) and went to the '20 DCSB. Whenever I went wheeling in the LB I wished I had a SB (or my '93 single cab), now that I have a SB and have to carry shit or even my MTB in the bed I wish I had a LB again. So buy both, or get the SB with extender (which I have but forgot on last trip :)). But just think how much more you can carry with a LB and an extender. That one foot makes a huge difference. LB is also better for sleeping in the back of the truck when wheeling/camping.

I second, third, and forth this right here ^^^

Plus the extra gear you can haul is pretty substantial. I had both the OR short and long bed. Slightly liked the look of my old SB better, but am hooked on the LB for it's practical purposes.

Sleeping in a truck bed sounds terrible even if you're not 6'+ tall.
    $20 hammock.

You kidding me? A twin mattress fits between the wheel wells perfectly. Sometimes when I'm traveling, I skip the hotel and sleep in the back of my truck parked on the street.

I guess you would need the extra cargo space if you're hauling a mattress around.

I think the difference is 1 foot.

All joking aside, being able to fit in my garage and easily navigate city streets and parking spots led me to the DCSB. Funny thing is I learned that if I fold the seats down in my Model S, I have 6 feet of storage space to the back of the front seats. I use the Tesla to haul stuff with and the Tacoma is just there to look pretty.

If you're going to use it as a truck hauling things and sleeping in the back VS using it as a "more manly 4Runner" get the LB.
