So I started my research on a lift and have decided to go with the maxtrac lift kit for my 2015 prerunner. It’s only a 2wd so absolutely no want for off roading. This is my daily driver and the lift is purely bc this truck is my love and I want her to look good. HOWEVER, I want to take care of her as well.

the shop quoted me same price on a 4in and 6.5 inch maxtrac lift meaning the 2.5 in difference is these damn spacers......

i opted for the 6.5 in lift but no I’m second guessing and thinking i should nix the spacers and just take the 4 inch lift.

I put a half deposit down and the lift is ordered but I can still back out if I need to..

would I be making a mistake to put a 6.5 lift on my daily driver?

I’m still a green bean to this so please don’t jump down my throat, I’m only looking for guidance and things to consider before I make a mistake I’ll regret.

6.5 is a new one on me. I have the 4 inch lift, I can get to 10 technically, if I maxed out my icons on preload and ad a 1.5 inch spacer.
Just typing that out was painful... just because I can, does not mean I should.
What is the benefit, currently my icons are set at no preload and it rides well for what it is at 4 inches.

I would stick with the 4 inch lift.

Got it. Is there anything crazy I should be considering with the 4in maxtrac? Anything specific to this brand that may cause issues down the road.? Also am I safer with a 4 inch in regards to angles, driver shaft, and ball joint binding?

The spindle keeps the same stock angles for steering rack and ball joints, it pushes the wheel down in order to keep everything in stock, instead of preloaded coils which lift the truck, but also mess with rack angles.

@JaCado i did see that chain in regards to the 6 inch lift but they were bickering about tire size and making adjustments due to the want for larger tires. I’m not looking to go massive with tires and cause further issues and adjustments to be made just to have them.

I am curious, what 4in lift kit are you using?

I have the ebay knock off max trac spindles . Under that, stock ucas and lcas, with a 2.5 icon shock and 650lb coil. Preload only set on the driver side to accommodate Taco lean, passenger side set to 0 preload.
I the rear, I have a 1 inch block and a 1.5 inch aal in a stock 4x4 leaf pack (i am still not level) and I carry 500 lbs around daily.

theoretically, If the 2.5 inch spacer was added to the front would that really be cause for suspension damage?

I’ve read so many people on here say it’s a major problem down the line but the reasoning is lost in 660 pages of comments

I’ve got stock everything on my truck and am so worried I’m going to screw things up adding this lift ☠️

Lol. I understand. I took 6 75mg Zantac diving out to lift my truck, my son looked at me weird... I said "what, we are about to go fuck up a perfectly good truck ".

I'd go 5100s all around with extended travels in the rear. Do 1st perch(0.85") and add a 1/4" top plate on the driverside.. 5100s are relatively inexpensive.

So almost a 5" lift. That would be perfect. If i could redo my suspension, that's what i would do.

I have 90,000 miles on my Maxtrac spindle lift. I have a 4 inch in the front and new leaf springs that give me 2.5 in the back. You will need:

    1. Maxtrac Spindles
    2. Extended brake lines for front and rear.
    3. OME Dakar leaf pack for the rear.
    4. Rims with the correct backset, I think a minimum of 4.5.
    5. Spidertrax spacer for rear tires to even out bump out from the spindle which is .75. I think I have 1.25 or 1.
    6. New shocks, Fox, Bilstien, Kings, ADS.
    7. Center drop bracket spacer to fix a slight angle on drive shaft OME.
    8. New tires, 33 at a minimum.

Plan on spending with tires and rims no less than 5000-6000 on parts only. If you don't have the coin now wait until you do. Also, now is not the time to do this with parts shortages the cost etc.

Like I said I have 90,000 plus miles on this setup and couldn't be happier.

Just remember the max trac spindles add 3/4” negative offset(track width) take that into consideration when getting wheels if you change them.

Get it. Wish i had known about the Maxtrac Spindles prior to my 6112/5160 install.

Deciding on the rear lift is a big challenge for the 6.5" lift.

Need a solid 5" rear lift to level. Most likely a block + aal setup.

Worth it in my humble opinion. I've learned a few lessons and buy once cry once is one of them.

Keep doing research and asking questions.
