New member here. I have been lurking here for some time, reading through the turbo threads , trying to get together a parts list for my turbo project: 1997 T-100, 3.4L, 4WD 5 spd. The CX manifold set is backordered for 3 months so I figured this would be a good time to get some recommendations from anyone who has done this already. Most important to me at this point, what turbo to buy? I have a couple in mind. Here is one https://www.enjukuracing.com/produc...MIxJPl7pHD9gIVAq7ICh1C0wezEAQYDSABEgL3rvD_BwE

    Another: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/tnt-11533-bb
The turbonetics is probably the one I would go with
    Thanks
    Brian

I would like to run an FIC but haven't been able to find one used. Most likely I will go with a MapEcu3

They are harder to get, but pop up every now and then. Just have to be patient and ready. There is one on e bay but the part number is not listed. You want the universal version, 30-1910 if I remember correctly. Also the fic 8 will work too. Same wire harness, they are cross compatible physically, just different software.

I used a Garrett Gt3582r with the 1.03 Tial housing. Aem 340 pump, 440cc injectors, Aem piggy, Garrett fmic, TurboSmart 45mm wastegate, Lce pro clutch. 8 psi yields 315 ft/lbs to the wheels. 35s w/4.56 gears. Very happy with it.

My supercharger numbers are pretty good too, 305 torque and 282 hp, 410 gears,
Torque with haltech comes on much faster too,
Haltech ECU will make a big difference with turbo or supercharger,

    2100 rpm’s is at 250 LBS torque

Get supercharger and turbo, super boost it, high lift heads, bore cylinders, forged internals, set the 3.4 hp record:rockband:

THIS is what I was hoping to see. Thank you for that information. I want to keep the truck streetable, it isn’t a daily driver anymore but I do drive it a week at a time. I have a few other cars so I try to keep them all going. FWIW, 30 year auto technician here, last 10 of that as a Lexus master/shop foreman. I left the dealership stress in 2020. Admittedly I know very little about turbos and their specs, Lexus had turbos on some models starting in 2015 but in typical Lexus fashion, they never had problems so we never had to diagnose anything with them.

How is the Haltech as far as OBDII? Non-existant?

I have been looking on ebay, didn’t see that one. Do you have a link? Also I found a shop in Malaysia that has it in stock. I am a hesitant to buy from overseas though. They would probably send me a used one or something sketchy.

The haltech is state of the art stuff.but expensive
It's a stand alone and you will get the best tune with it by far.
stock ecu you will be limited regardless
but you pay for what you get.
The haltech can be setup as a piggyback or by itself. In my situation for my year 97 it’s not a piggy back so the OBII is not used but you use the computer instead.
Also the MAF is eliminated completely

There's fic 6 out there new for $450 $475 if you're a player at those prices. On US soil. They come up in Google and duckduckgo searches.

Thanks for that. The only one I have been able to find is an FIC 8 for $599. I am not sure if they even have it, but it does say in stock. Everything else I have found is either out of stock/discontinued or a decade-old for sale used post

Extremely easy, 5 minutes or so depending,
    Just unplug and replug,,
It takes longer to setup because you need an 02 sensor bung welded in to exhaust, but just as simple too install.

BUT you will need a custom harness made because all these ECU are different
