    Happy Friday all!

I have a question regarding the OEM roof rack system on 5th Gens and weight limits. I purchased a Tepui 2 person low pro tent and want to install over the weekend but no sure if possible.

Is it possible to mount my roof top tent to the OEM cross bars? The tent itself weighs about 85 LBS and the factory system states MAX LOAD 132 LBS. Now I have read about dynamic and static weights and by my calculations this should work no problem. Does anyone know if Toyota states if this is a dynamic or static rating anywhere? I looked in the manual and online and I have not been able to find a definitive answer.

Has anyone loaded one onto their OEM bars successfully?

If this has been asked before I apologize in advance

Yes, you can mount a tent to the OEM crossbars. It's not ideal since they are curved, but I've seen it done. They will bear the weight.

I think a better option is buying straight crossbars like Thule, Yak, or my preference - Inno. Inno are a lot cheaper but just as good. Those bars mount to the factory rack and give a flat, stable mounting surface that better distributes the weight.

    Weight listed is static.

Here's my former 130 lb ROAM with Inno crossbars on the OEM rack.
