Looking at adding the light bar across the top of the windshield but with all the whistling problems and I have been told it affects your gas mileage. I wanted to get everyone’s opinion on them. Are they worth it? I’m not a huge fan of drilling holes in my A column to add them either.

Understanding your lighting needs will help in recommending if a light bar is worth it to you. What are you looking to accomplish?

I’m a huge outdoors guy and do a lot of hunting. The club I’m in is way off the beaten path. Long unlit muddy swampy dirt/gravel roads. I’m just trying to get maximum light coverage in combination with distance to see obstacles ahead in the path. The truck is also my daily driver so I’m particularly concerned about the whistling issue.

Honestly my 32" bar in my lower valence puts out more useable light then my 52" light on my windshield...

You can always add another bar in the upper grill and ditch lights or pods in your fogs.:notsure:

I got rid of the whistle easily.
Just angle light right and figure out which fins are vibrating..fill those with strips of rubber .

Still not the best place for useable light
    Atleast where I need lighting..

A light bar will whistle to some extent and cause decreased fuel economy as you are placing a very large item in a critical area of the airstream. Note hood glare is also an issue which degrades your eyes ability to see distance at night due to near feild illumination causing your pupils to constrict. Options to reduce glare are to run a light bar sheild/shelf which will make whistling and fuel economy worse, or mount the light bar further back than above the windshield which should also reduce whistling. An option for reduced noise and increased distance night vision would be to run a quality grill mounted LED bar, near headlight level, and ditch mount pods pointed to the sides for proximity lighting. No glare issues, and minimal wind noise.
