how bad is it to run a standard 5100 shock in the back with a 1” block? I don’t plan to do major off roading, just an occasional drive down the dirt road type deal. Just got it all installed and want to know where the limitations are! I’ve read that the 5100’s are fine with a 1” block but I was wondering what anyone’s experience was with it?

Jason did this to his Blue Taco with no issues.

Like you said as long as no major offroading you will be fine.

What setting on the 5100s did you need to level? I want this same lift.

With a 1” lift in the rear I had to set it to the third notch, which is 1.1”. I am NOT level, I wanted to maintain rake. If you want to level, do nothing to the rear and set the front at 1.1” (3rd notch).

No limit. Except staring at other trucks may cause the desire to lift higher lol.

Ran that setup for a year, currently have ome leafs in the garage waiting to be installed. I only need them cause my weight in the back has increased recently with camping stuff.

Thinking about doing this as well, where did you get the block from? Link?

How far from level are you? Would the 4th notch level with a 1" rear lift?

I think you’d need the 5th notch, which is almost as far as it will go. If you just want a level look there’s no point in raising the rear, you’ll potentially be opening a can of worms with that amount of lift.

    Can anybody help me pls?
I am about to lift my truck.
I have Tacoma Pro Bilstein Tuned suspension
    Basically 6112 and 5160s...
I am gaining a lift 1.75-2" front lift and wanting to keep the rake of my truck so I would like to install 1.5" rear block.

I don't have anything on the bed and don't tow anything neither.

    Are these blocks safe?
Look at the leaf hole guide of the block?
I am afraid it might have some play while driving... will be moving back and forth

If you want factory rake (1”) then you’ll need a bigger block. You’ll still have rake at that setup but it’ll be minimal. As for that block, I’d say it’s safe but I’m no expert. I ran a solid block on mine.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing to my new 2018 SR5 4x4 Double Cab Long Bed. I'm adding a Leer Topper. Can anyone tell me what settings would give me a level ride or the front end slightly lower?

@valdomero Don't do the 1.5" block in the rear if you already have 6112 and 5160. Go with an AAL or new leaf pack for the rear. A 1.5 block is going to be too risky.

Will the AAL make the rear stiffer?
I don't have anything heavy to carry...
I plan on buying a bed mat, trifold cover...
My front springs are already 600

Probably will even with the trifold cover, call some of these vendors like Marie at headstrong or toytec to get expert advice, I wouldn't think a new leaf pack would be that much, it would give you a good ride and would save you a lot of trouble and money over the long run. If you were just going the 1" block I would say go for it. I was going to go with OME885 springs, 5100s front and back with 1" block instead I used my stock OR coils 5100s set at .85 (2 gen) with .25 spacer passenger side and .50 spacer driver side with 5100 rear no lift and I am level. Still have block and coils.Driver side full view of new Black Decals.jpg

@valdomero I personally would do the leaf spring anything over 1''. I just consider it a better choice in quality and safety seeing that leaf hole you posted. Haha. Headstrong has a Deaver 1.5-2'' AAL for $100. but thats just my opinion..

    Is that a single leaf?
Which is better the 3 leaf or single leaf?

Yes. Its a single leaf. Ideally the 3 leaf would be a better choice for ride and comfort, but its a couple bucks more. You can check out headstrongoffroad.com they got diff options and details which is good..
